I saw an old thread on another site with a link to use of PVC piping for IC. They said it worked great, but the link was dead. I searched in here, but couldn't find anything either. Has anyone tried this or is it been proven to be a bad application?

You'll get mixed opinions and personally I've never tried it. Just get a piping kit. You can also look on SupraForums for your answer.

If you have stock ic pipe use it... Pvc will work but umm its about as tacky as you can get.... Exhaust pipe would be better and cost about the same as pvc... but intercooler pipe is not alot more....

Meh. I wouldn't use PVC myself. It has some advantages, for example, post intercooler, it's an excellent heat insulator, so it will prevent heat from the exhaust manifold from getting to your air charge. It's also lighter than aluminium, though I don't really think that the miniscule weight savings is much of an argument.

Will it work? Properly done, certainly it will. That doesn't mean that it's a GOOD solution though.

This. My car has exhaust piping for IC pipes, works fine for me. Even after four or five back to back pulls, the upper pipe isn't too hot to touch. It isn't even really uncomfortable.

the site that has it on is jblmk3's site. I done his mod before in my car and it worked great on my stock ct-26 boosting at around 10psi, but once i upgraded to a full t4 t04e 60trim turbo i was boosting 15psi and practically blew one of those pvc elblows into a million pieces. If you're stock and need some good intercooler pipings these would be for you, but if you're serious about hp then don't do this mod.

When I bought my car it had PVC IC piping. It looked very tacky and had one major flaw. Because its plastic, it would contract under high heat and I would blow the piping off the couplers very often, even with 3ply silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps.

Meh, at the price that aluminum piping is being sold for now, (driftmotion's kit) I'd just spring for that. The piping is great quality, as well as the clamps and couplers.

Exactly. Back when that article was written, aftermarket options were rare and expensive. Not so much any more. Doing it right the first time is so easy... why do it twice?
