Hope to put the head back on this weekend, and I figured I would start a technical thread so I dont post 40 threads over the next day or two .
I am going to be putting a stock gasket back on my Supra and I am curious as to how clean the block needs to be. I scrapped at it for an hour or so with a metal blade and managed to get most of the old gasket off. I can still see some metal spots where the old gasket was but I can't seem to get anything more then a few particles of stuff off of the block. Since I am not using a MHG I figured it doesn't have to be perfect, but I want to get it right the first time.
Torqing the head down: Whats the process? I have the TSRM(sp) on it, and it shows the pattern but nothing of how to torque it. Should I go to a certain lb before going all the way to 73lbs?
Do I need to use the head bolt washers?
I think thats it so far :biglaugh:
