Ive got 10 days off of work for summer-fall intersession. So I plan on fixing the rodknock in my moms car.

I can pull the engine out with the trans/head/block.

But whenever I go to put it back in I can never get the mounts to sit so I end up having to pull the head.

I did it once way back when, Is there a secret I dont know or something?

I have a 3 foot 1/2 drive extension and impact universal sockets. That is the secret you don't know. That extension from Snap-On was $80, if my memory is correct. You can get a better price from just about anybody.

It';s all about the installation angle. I have an adjustable engine leveler that works wonders for just this type of installation. You can borrow it when your're ready. In fact, give me a call and I'll give you a hand.

I was thinking of the top bellhousing bolts, which if you remove the head are easily accessable.

What car? Toyota says to remove the engine and trans together. When I was doing this before, I didn't do that, but I had a lift and an engine hoist. If the trans is still in, the motor mount will be tough to line up, since you also have to line up the trans.

My hoist lets me adjust the angle, but the head keeps hitting the fire wall. Im thinking I may just take the head off when I do it.

Im assuming it would be safe to reuse the HG since its been ran a total of maybe 3 mins.

BTW the cars lowered on eibachs so that may have something to do with it.

If the transmission is hitting the ground when you're trying to re-install it, the eibachs could be your problem. However, I'd have thought you would have had similar issues getting it out in the first place!
