Bought a purolator fuel filter from Advance today and it was a PITA trying to keep it from leaking on the banjo bolt side. The purolator I removed said... MADE IN ISRAEL, the one I put in said... Made in CHINA!!!! they make them in china now! what a POS. I finally got it tightened down enough using the new copper washers and it stopped leaking. I think it might "seep" a Tiny tiny bit. to the point where.... it barely looks wet....if any. I'm not even sure if it is seeping for sure. My dealer wanted $38+tax and special order. :nono: That's why I went with the $17 purolator from china. Anyone else have problems with their FF leaking?

Nearly everyone who has had a non-Toyota fuel filter has said the same thing. But yet people still buy them... I don't understand.

Pete, install you're filter using the new copper washers. If it leaks I will treat you to the Hong Kong buffet on Fifth street. Get used to this chinese junk, people. It's here to stay. Say hello to the next world leaders. You wanted low prices, now ya got them. This country did it to itself. Greed. Now we pay.

Of course they suck, why waste time complaining? NAPA Gold filters are ok, I have used them for years on all kinds of stuff and never had a problem. Just buy an OEM Toyota filter and it will work perfect everytime.

Bought a clutch kit for a 87 celica from Elmhorst toyota, Thank you fryarms for the excellent service. Beautiful GEN_U_INE toyota box. On a sticker on the outside of the box---- MADE IN MEXICO I was like WTF. I was a little pissed. Even Toyota knows profit when it can be made. Here's a little scenerio: Guy at parts counter: Well I have two differant ones for you. It's about a three dollar differance. Cust: Whats the differance? Parts Guy: I dunno. The Mexican people are proud and hard workers, but even they can't compete with 10 year old girls imprisoned working in sweat shops. What can we do about it? absolutly nothing. What can we buy made in USA, we don't make anything anymore. I bought a pair of Rocky boots last year, yea, you guessed it, made in China.

Purolator oil filters are made in the USA though... but their fuel filters are now made in China china. I bet their oil filters are next. Well I'll leave it on for a few days and order a Toyota filter.

I might add. I have three original Denso oil filters in Toyota boxes for my supra. Japanese printing and all. I just looked and guess whats on the box? Made in Japan, Whew. You Guys are too young to remember but, when the Japanese bike scene came about in the late 60's early 70's (think vietnam vets) and the car scene too. We called them rice burners and laffed at them. There was no way these cars and bikes made from recycled campbells soup cans would compete with a 1975 Lincoln or a Harley. (although, Harley found a nitch similar to Mercedes, (The car isn't important but the Three star emblem in my driveway is) Does anyone on this board know of the contracts between GM, FORD, Maybe Toyota, Honda. With the Chinese? I bet they are happening! The rotors on my Pontiac and Chevy truck are Chinese, my Brembo's on the Supra were made in Italy, or maybe just the box was. How can you tell? FWIW, I love General tso's chicken. Maybe I won't pick spanish as a second.

My Purlator fuel filter didn't have a problem on the banjo side. The flare side didn't stop leaking. I finally got it to seal. But there is not way the nuts coming off.

Wix is where it's at, I never use anything but, on occasion I might use a Fram HP type which inside is exactly like a wix. Do what I did years ago cut them open yourself and compare the quality, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to see which ones are junk and which ones are made with quality, function, and performance in mind. I even found a Wix for Honda XR400, unlike Hondas expensive filter the Wix comes with a new o'ring.

I've had similar problems with the Purolator filter I bought at Advance. After re-tightening it like 3 times, I think I've gotten it to stop leaking, but I haven't checked in a long time.

Next time I'll try the Wix.

I do think the turn that this thread is taking is slightly ironic given that our cars were manufactured in Japan. ;)

I've run a purolator fuel filter on every toyota I've ever owned and never had one leak....not even once. I just put a purolator on my supra about 3-4 months ago when doing my walbro install.... no problems ????
