Hello all, I have been a member at celicasupra.com forever, but just recently....

I purchased a car, with a half assembled 7mgte.
The engine had o-ring grooves machined into the block, dont know if the head had receiver grooves, but i would think not since the gasket used was METAL.
This ran at 18psi, but during tuning on a dyno, it ran lean and "fried a piston."

I understand the problem with o-ringing a 7mgte, but it has already been done and I am looking for options.

How would an o-ringed block work with a MHG?

Since then, the block has been sent to a machine shop, and new eagle rods, and bearings but stock pistons have been installed.

I have been reading this site non stop for the last few days, lots of good info, but nothing that has o-ringed block and MGH.

Thanks guys, looking forward to some info from the experts.

the 7m wont take good with o rings as there is not much meat between the cylinders.

Personally id ditch the block and fin another and just machine both the block and head to 30ra or better and slap a good mhg on it and call it a day.

^This, except I'd add some forged pistons to the mix. No point spending money on decent rods and going with junk pistons...

with a MHG with o-ringed block at 18psi and running lean, this motor got hot enough to burn the pistons, but did not blow a head gasket.

I just never heard of it before and can not find any info on the internet with that combo.

Depending on how deep the o-ring grooves are, i will attempt to have the block resurfaced, otherwise try to find a used block.
