Most punk sucks, just so you guys know. ;)

Some of my favorite band names are:
Corrosion of Conformity
Slayer
Acid Bath
Warhorse
Napalm Death
Mammoth Volume (there sound isn't so mammoth, though :( )
King Crimson
Kyuss (pictured in sig)
Sleep

A few less-than-socially-and-commercially-acceptable names are:
Bongzilla
Goatwhore
Cannibal Corpse
Eyehategod (that name sucks)
Death
Alabama Thunderpussy
Necrophagia

Those are fun!

I like puppies, too. Too bad mine is 9-years-old and lives 2,600+ miles away from me. He got bit in the face by a rattle snake a couple weeks ago, too. That wasn't cool. He's all better now, though.

Ah yes, black and death metal-the real shit. Not radio-friendly. Not widely socially-acceptable. And for the most part, not commercially-polluted.

I have recently gotten a lot more into black metal, to include Goatwhore, Venom, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Darkthrone, Emperor and Rise. I've been into Goatwhore for nearly a year now and I've had Venom's "Black Metal" for well over 3 years, I just didn't feel it at first, though.

When it comes to death metal, my favorite band is Death. I really like the way they got more progressive with "Human" and kept it going from there. Chuck Schuldiner was an insanely-talented musician. After that, I'm big on Burning Inside, Scythe, Disincarnate, Obituary, Morbid Angel, At The Gates, Cannibal Corpse, Vader, Vital Remains, Nocturnus and Ritual Carnage. I'm not into listening to excessive blast beats and extremely fast riffs for a long period of time, but more so a good groove and grind.

That's enough talk for now. Your turn.

"Your turn." didn't mean limit yourself to one sentence, fellar. So what other bands are you into?

My top 10 favorite bands at the moment are Pantera, Death, Down, Acid Bath, Kyuss, Goatsnake, Sleep, Slayer, Goatwhore and Soilent Green. Slayer just got shifted back because of my affinity for NOLA sludge as well as the rest of the doom, stoner and sludge stuff out there.

The thing that stands out as odd to me about "hardcore" these days is that it's used totally out of context. Take a look back to the 80s and 90s when real hardcore was around. Not Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu and all the rest of that fag-core music. That shit is not metal-plain and simple.

"Real" hardcore bands (in my eyes)-SOD, old COC, DRI, Excel, Beowulf, etc. I think that you can accurately throw crossover into the hardcore sub-genre. I'm not, nor have I ever been into hardcore, but I know enough about music to spot the pretenders out there.
