I have a PS3 and use it to stream audio and video from my PC running PS3MediaSever. Also I use the NetFlix app. That's ALL I use it for, I've literally never played a game on it.

I bought it when BluRay players were still expensive as a PS3 and didn't offer any form of DLNA capability. The PS3 was reviewed as the best BluRay player around so I just got that.

Costco has a Sony BluRay model BDP-BX57 that advertises DLNA streaming. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Sony BluRay's interface for media streaming. I don't like having a 300 dollar box sitting in my media center when I could sell it and pocket some cash while still having a box that does everything I want it to do. I also like the fact the BluRay player has a Pandora app while the PS3 is forced to go through the browser.

Anyone have any input?

I'm not sure what your asking, but if its between the ps3 and the bluray player, id say stick with the ps3, solely because you already have it.

I'm asking if anyone has any experience with using a BluRay player as a media station like I currently use the PS3 for. I've just decided to go buy the BluRay and see if I like it. It's only 130 bucks and Costco has a great return policy. If I like it, great, if not, I'll drop it :)

This coming from a Sony aficionado... Your Playstation 3 is the best bluray player on the market today. It gets its updates before the regular bluray players, is 100% more versatile then a bluray player.. you can browse the internet with it, edit photos, music, and video.... You also have the ability to play games, download games, purchase movies, or rent movies..You also have the Hulu Plus and Netflix apps.. In coming months, you'll be able to stream BluRay quality movies onto your PS3 using Netflix Instant Stream. It also has better and more frequently updated acoustics/surround sound capabilities..It also is the better 3D player right now. PS3 actually got HiDef 3D Bluray over 4 months BEFORE they came out with the 3D bluray players. Ontop of all that, it also offers a 'social network' Second Life like service known as Playstation Home.. that would be a great way for you to network, get some gaming in and see if thats the direction you would like to go. Sony will also, in the coming year, start releasing new release titles downloaded directly to your PS3 through the Playstation Store. I would also suggest spending the $18 for the Playstation Plus subscription for 3 months. It gives you access to a variety of FREE downloadable full games and also a warranty protection program for your PS3 that is from Sony directly. You should get a PSEye and use the EyeCreate software for some more fun! Hopefully that helps you.. and in the near future, I expect to see a message or friends request to my PSN account either: Demonicshamwow or Demonicslapchop ... Cheers!
