PS Pressure Hose broken?

the hose split on the pressure hose when i turn it starts to whine and ps fluid starts to shoot out. Is there anyway i can just change the hose or will i have to change the whole pressure hose? http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ca...navValue=14602103&itemId=2103-0&parentId=46-0

Doesnt hose and whole pressure hose, imply the same thing? I am confused as to what you are asking. If you are speaking of the rubber crimped on extension... then I dont believe you can, unless you take the fitting to a hose supply store that can custom make PS lines.

I think Driftmotion sells a braided line for that hose.

Autozones price on that hose is $62, DM sells the braided for $65...I'd just get DM's haha.

the dm one is less likely to blow. i just ran into the problem but i have a place in town that makes all my hoses the way i want for a fraction of the price

i was comparing the dm to the autozone one. i hate autozone i decided to buy my slave there 4 months later its blown and it sat 3 out of the 4.

I've replaced the Power Steering pressure hose and its a PITA. Do yourself a favor and get the DM one.

The only thing you have to 'worry' about with the DM line is it chafing against anything else...it'll wear the hose away as well as whatever it rubs against. Other than that there are no problems. Benefits: easier to install, no banjo bolts, rated to 2000 psi (higher than the PS system sees), bling factor if you care about it.

I don't see how a line rated for 2000+ psi, which is well above what the hose will see anyways, is 'more likely to blow'. Is there something I'm missing? I haven't heard of any failing to this day unless I missed something...

Also, it doesn't matter if the ENTIRE braided line fails, or a portion of the rubber line fails...you're getting an entire new line either way.

Why did it fail? Bad connection, hose catch on something? How long did you have it in your car?

Wasn't my car and it was replaced for free.

I had the option at the time when I did mine to use his too. While it may be a great product, it's untested for the long term and the stock one lasted nearly 20 years. The amount of work to replace it meant I went the normal route because I don't want to replace it again.
