Well it finally happened my car was delivered on Saturday. The car is an early 89 supra (built Nov 88) targa top turbo model. The car was a project vehicle my father-in-law bought intending to get to it after his other projects but then switched modes to a 35 ford. I’ve spent the last few days cleaning the car and going through the engine bay and the boxes of parts that were delivered with the vehicle trying to determine what I have, what I need, and what needs to be replaced.
What I am working with, a complete body (dark blue, faded) with interior (blue) wired for a manual transmission, separately sourced engine (aprox 90k miles) and automatic transmission( aprox 2k miles), and another turbo as the one from the engine was used on another project. The engine and trany were in good running condition before they were pulled (father-in-law drove them). Turbo has no propeller damage or shaft play but running condition is still unknown. To my surprise the vehicle came with decent looking 17” rims and a 3” exhaust with downpipe and cat (type and condition are still unknown until I get the car on a lift later this week.
So far the work that has been done is small I replaced the plugs, checked the plug wires to ensure they are in spec, and identified seven hoses to be replaced. Body wise the car is in overall decent shape there is only 1 rust spot (surface) on the exterior of the vehicle above the driver side front fender which is approximately 2” long by about a half inch wide. The rear hatch has some rust near what I believe is the fuel pump access hatch and has rust in the spare tire well which is in need of repair (1 dime size hole rusted through near the rear drain plug). The interior is in very good condition with the exception of the leather seats which are brittle and cracking. The underside of the vehicle actually has very minimal rust and overall I am very happy with the cars overall condition.
The problems I am facing now are all knowledge I know about parts and condition are second hand and a LOT of parts are in boxes so I have to figure out where they go as I proceed. But I figure this will be a good learning process for me.
My goals are to return this car to its proper place, Street Dominance :icon_evil. I wish to build a quality street car that will be as reliable as it is fun to drive. See you all in the upcoming posts.

Ok added a photobucket link with just a few pics will post more soon. http://s1104.photobucket.com/albums/h337/jaycee_80/?action=postupload

Well I’ve been striping the back bodywork off along with the taillights so I can change the gaskets and repair the rust in the hatch area and I found 4 Rockford Fosgate speakers so that is a plus. Rear hatch doesn’t look as bad since I’ve been able to remove all of the water, ATF (that leaked), and cleaned it off. However, I believe I will be welding in a patch in the spare tire well and will paint the entire rear trunk area in Por 15 to help minimize additional rust.

Just a quick update I’ve been prepping the rear hatch to receive some loving. To do this I removed the sound dampening material and dropped the gas tank. Just a quick heads up to anyone doing this a heat gun is your friend when removing the sound deadening material. Also if you are following the Haynes manual when dropping the gas tank it is beneficial to remove the exhaust heat shield as the gas tank can get hung up on it and it is only like 4 screws. Besides that it is a breeze.

So ive had the car running for a few months now and love it. It drive likes a dream. So far i have updated the intake to a Weapon R CAI. However, i have a tanabe exhaust sitting in the garage and a Raptor Racing DP on its way. I also have an AMS intercooler that should arrive tomorrow and some hard pipes being shipped. I seem to like winter projects as much as actually driving the car. A few updated photos: The first is how the car is sitting now, the second is the Weapon R CAI, the third is with the CAI installed, the last is the Tanabe exhaust waiting to go on.

Yes it is an Alamo Motorsports and is essentially the same as the cartech IC. I purchased it used from a member on here but it is in great condition.

Yea it seems solid but its not overly huge which is fine as i am not trying to crush the dyno merely improve the performance a bit.

Yup, small by today's standards. I think the size is dictated by what can fit in the stock location. It is thicker though, and the data I have seen shows much less pressure drop than the stock IC.
