Well my dad purchased a Remington 870 12 gauge for me as an early xmas / graduation present (graduated the Law Enforcement Academy November, 21st 2008) and now looking for work haha, interview monday see how it goes. ANYWAY, It was used but in good shape, no pitting, no rust, blued finish standard remington sysnthetic stocks, but it did have an extended magazine tube which saved me some money and time ordering one haha. Paid $250.00 for it, has an 18 inch barrell and was owned by a cop before me.

heres pic from when I go it:

Then today my first of many parts came in, this shotgun will be for home defense, shooting fun and may carry in patrol car dependding where I go, most departments here have AR15's and they got rid of all but a few shotguns, as a shotgun still has good uses as a cop I'll possibly carry it for work too (most MO Departments will allow personal weapons carried if qualified with and approved). I got my Knoxx SpecOps recoil reducing tactical stock in today along with the powerpak accessories for it. The powerpak came with 2 different size cheek pieces, a shell holder and a water tight compartment for batteries or oil or a tool. Here's the current setup on it.

I plan to get a new pump for it with rails for a light as well as a pistol grip for up front to aid in controlled shooting, also a rail for the top of the reciever for a red or green dot sight and a set of ghost ring iron sights for when I don't need the optics mounted. I will also get rid of the blued finish and have it duracoated flat tactical black.

The Knoxx Stock is very nice, reduces recoil as advertised and I love the M4 style adjustable setup on it, the shell holder is excellent too, lot better since its fixed and wont slid like the stock shell saddle on the normal stock did. It'll be neat taking this 250.00 normal shorty shotgun and turning it into a tactical shotgun with a few well placed and well designed parts. In comparison remingtons 870 tactical is 650 and it has a shitty stock in my opinion and is a lil too long also.

That gun with the Remmy 2 shot extension is 329.99 new...so good buy.

Some thoughts for you...have you though about a Ghost Ring set-up?

Also, the Sure-Fire front grip is the only way to go...you will hate having a pistol grip up front. It gets in the way and slows down the reload times.

Thanks for the advice, I was looking at a pump that was similar to stock but had the rails for a light and a grip etc, I am trying to find a good set of ghost rings actually, if not I want to get at least the regular sights, I hate that lil bead its a pain and awkward compared to my handguns and the long rifles and carbines I've been using before.

I think it was a good buy, even before I added the stock, I just wanna improve it, I love the 870 for its simplicity and reliability.

I am just starting out my lil aresenal, planning on buying a good AR this spring but its gonna be a lil expensive, also some other handguns for work and play.

Currently I won this 870 as well as:

1. Glock 22C I purchased new, added glock 3.5 lbs trigger, truglo tritium night sights and a mag well plug

2. Beretta M92FS with trijicon tritium night sights

3. Kel-Tec Sub 2000 carbine chambered in .40S&W and will accept glock mags (same as the G22 uses :) )

Thanks, I love it so far, It's much shinier now since I cleaned and oil it today when I put the new stock on.

Yeah heres some 92fs shots for ya buddy.

The first three were just shots of my 92 at home, the other 3 I took along with my jacket when I worked at Cape County dispatching, I am trying to get on as a deputy or a patrolman since I graduated on the 21st of November 2008. I got bored made a good Law Enforcement themed beretta background. That beretta was given to me by my dad, he carried it when he was a deputy sheriff in NC (Bought it new in 1991, still accurate and reliable as when it was new) while being a Marine full time IDK when he slept. I now own it along with the Glock 22C I purchased to use as primary or backup depending what I get issued, most departments in MO use the Glock 22 (.40S&W) or the Glock 17 (9mm), however a few I hear use Springfield XD's, and Beretta model 92 and model 96 handguns.

It seemed like forever, started August 4th, 2008 and ended November 21st, 2008. 40 hours a week, 640 hours total for the Class A Missouri P.O.S.T.

We spent 72 hours on the handgun alone, another 24 on the shotgun, and then 24 hours on combat shooting (we used simmunitions and did stuff ranging from traffic stops to warrant service and building search, not all of them turned into shooting but a lot did supposed to get you to use your training in a real world style simulation, lots of fun. I never did get shot by a sim round, I hear they hurt and they bruise way worse than any paintball injury I have ever seen).

Also had the fortune of taking a 5 second ride on an X-26 Taser, got beat with a baton, got handcuffed (no hot girls sadly), and did some driving, I did well with the driving haha crown vics can be thrown around pretty well, nowhere near as fun or fast as a supra but they can do thier top speed a long time, oversized radiator, Heavy duty alternator etc.

I have a job interview monday, my first one for an LEO position so I hope I get it, starts at 32k a year but I didn't sign up for the money.

Heres some academy shots.

Me at the range during a combat course (these were timed at range, you got enough rounds to kill all targets and 2 extras because nobody shoots 100%, you were supposed to use cover and all that jazz, basically practice tactics, this was 4th day of range, first combat course.) In this one I did not use the cover properly, almost all of us did what I am doing we should have used that wall and been behind it, less of a target than I am in that crouched position, I learned that one hard way haha one of the guest instructors started hitting me with rocks LOL.

This is me in my academy uniform, Black BDU Pants, Blue polo shirt w/ logo, nylon duty belt and tac boots.

It was $4,000.00 for the 640 hour academy. If you go through a large city a lot of times they make you do thier academy during which you are paid while attending however you have to sign a contract for it a lot of times. I went through a state approved college funded academy, one of the cheaper ones, MAC's academy in Park Hills is about 5k and the ones near STL are ungodly more, some provide more hours some less, 600 is state mandated for a Class A POST License however we got the extra 40 for taser, Datatmaster certification, SFST administration and Medical first responder training.

Thanks bro on the 92 compliment, XD's are ok but I prefer Glock since I like the grips and stuff better, it's all personal everyone is different, In my opinion a .45 in a polymer frame is too difficult to shoot accuratly, for a .45 I stick with the 1911 style handgun.
