This could have gone in the tech, but it's neither 7m or 1jz specific since it deals with the stock LSD.

One of the two bolts that holds the LSD in from the botom has broke loose. It is suppose to have a nut welded inside the frame, but it now only spins and spins. I want to go to the track this weekend, but this worries me since it isn't tightened up. Has anyone else ran into this problem before and if so how did you fix it? I have a small welder that I might could use to help out, but I'm sure I'll be removing this LSD at some point and then I'll have to deal with the welded bolt. Thanks, Jay

I've never experienced this for myself, Jay, but I read about a similar case (on here, I'm sure). The solution was to cut an opening across/ or underneath the offending nut and reweld it to be captive again. Sorry to hear about the trouble, sounds like a drag. I'm not looking forward to sorting out my subframe, but in my defense, I don't have a high hp build like yours, (yet)so it's not as prone to cracking. gl.

I would cut a 3 sided rectangle just tall and wide enough to get a cressent wrench in there... tighten it down... IF you have a welder.. then weld it in place again and bend frame back and weld that... IF no welder handy then atleast its tight and safe enought for the road.. take someplace have them do it for a few bucks...

did you do this putting in the diff in if so most likely cross threaded in causing it to snap

how much of the bolt is in ? head flush to the diff Mont?

the worst case that will happen over time or under big power is you might crack the sub frame around that bolt hole

if it was me i still hit the track and check on it while i was there what's the worst thing that can happen break what was all ready broke

the fix for this is big hole saw cut out the stock nut hole

then make a patch and weld a nut on( make sure to put a bolt in the nut when doing this or it will warp bad and not thread ) the other side of the patch
temp install the in diff then tack weld the patch

just make sure patch is bigger then the hole you made

remove diff and fully weld and make shim for the other side of the diff monte

that or buy new sub frame

Thanks for the help guys. I'll crawl under there and see what I can do about it. The bolt isn't threaded in but one or two threads. It isn't holding anything at all on that side. The other side is bolted down though.
