hey guys and girls iv been having probs with my jza70 it all started i had a crook injector to start with so replaced all of them with brand new ones then i lost my license now 6 months on just got back to nsw from far north qld hit the key and i have a miss now i put new coils in new coil plugs that clip onto the coil new spark plugs hit the key she runs but still has miss. So i then went threw started pulling off the plug on the coil trying to see which cylinder its missing on got to 3 didnt make a diffrence to the roughness of the idle when it was on or off so put it on kept goign got to 5 same thing didnt make a diffrence so took 3 back off and then all of a sudden 5 worked lol so i figured 3 and 5 was shorting on each other so fixed up the wires and connections. Started her up again still missed but now wen i give it a rev spark leaps from under the coil to the head and earths out iv changed coils and coil brackets its all earthed good but still misses on cylinder 3 and wen rev'd sparks jump out iv tried everything changed coils and and spark plugs a zillion times still same result pot 3 doesnt get spark into the combustion im lost and its driving me insain :( plz plz help any help is good help atm

thanks heaps matty.

are these brand new coil's or another set of used?you might want to check them for crack's near the mounting point's and also under the blue boot.that is ,if there used coil's anyway's

How can i change the wire for number 3 its all run in with the wireing harness to the ignitor?? Im not a sparky i just dont understand why number 3 cuts out number 5?? but if 3 is diconnected 5 works fine its only wen 3 is connected to the coil it stops 5 working along with itself. i know for a fact its NOT coils NOT spark plugs NOT clips for the wires that connect too the coil. But im thinking all i have left to do is to take it too an auto elecy :(

Have you changed the wire on #3 yet?

Pretty sure Grim was referring to the #3 spark plug wire, not the harness wire to the igniter.

ground the plugs to see if you are getting spark to those cyclinders. check your injectors. and if non of those are the problem trace your problem back with a voltmeter past the coils.

yer mate its coil over plug set up its a 1jz twin turbo motor in a 91 jza70. so there is no leads from the coil to the plug meaning way more effective spark from your coil to your spark plug :). I would have thought supra owners of the mkIII supra would know this already??? DOES anyone here actually work on there own car??? maybe they might know what my prob is no offence to the people that are trying to help, if anyone knows of a guy on these forums that knows alot about the 1jz and the electrical side of things plz let me know cheers
matt.

First of all thanks to everyone thats tried to help with my problems much appreciated :). Im sorry if i havnt been the easyest person to understand and thanks for still trying to help. Um for sum reason after all the dramas iv had with the car seems to run fine now except still has a lil miss at lower revs. Makes great power still threw the whole rev range so not sure what is causing the the fine low rev miss it has?. If anyone has any ideas id love to hear them and willing to go and try to find whats causing my miss.Once again thanks to all thats made an effort to help.

P.S um have a over boost prob where would i post about that ?? thanks heaps :)

What are you using for a boost controller? Are you sure it's hooked up correctly? There are probably a hundred threads dealing with boost spikes and or boost leaks. Do a quick search and see if anyone is having the same problems you are and see how they went about solving them. Good luck.

If you can't find your answer after searching, then you can start another thread in this section.
