Hello all,
I guess ill start from the beginning. A few years ago I blew the HG and I am having somewhat of the same symptoms. At idle the car bogs down and sounds identicle to and STi. It keeps the same sound and laggy-ness through the RMP shifts then all the sudden it goes away, then comes back at random times! I dont get it. I almost want to say it is a miss-firing plug or a bad plug wire. The start of all this... I was driving to work and the coolant line on the back of the head blew off so i drove it the rest of the way to work a few miles away. As I was pulling the the parking lot the temp level just was at the bottom of the red. I left if for a few days thinking I blew the HG again because of the steam pouring out the back of the car. Come to find out the line blew off the head I started putting it back on and sure enough the nipple on the the heater control valve broke off. So i by-passed it and went from the head to the heater core. I filled the RAD but it was still low and filled the reservoir tank but it never sucked out of the tank into the system??? I was having a problem with heat but i guess the system is filled now. I have heat and the reservoir tank light just came on last night.
I'm not sure what to do or think. Also during normal driving around 1,500-2,500 RPM it feels like boost lag then all the sudden 2,000 rpm it will put you in your seat a bit. (not under boost either) I don't want to tear the whole car down again to replace the HG if it turns out to be a plug. I am in Michigan so it is freezing and haven't done to many tests. If anyone else has ran into this please let me know. I have searched around and found nothing.
Thanks, Sean
