Went over to Hecubus' today to do the block test, put the the on, and I don't think we'd let enough coolant out of the radiator, and coolant went into it instead of gases. Then my car started puffin white smoke after I turned it off and turned it back on...
didn't really quit till I left and got going.
My clutch is fine though, if anyone was reading about that and wondering, I think I had gotten my carpet jammed up in there and it wasn't going down all the way.

SO.
It looks like I am going to just have to replace the gaskets and what not, and in the meantime I need to retorque my headbolts i think. Because it is my DD and I drive out to redmond for work about 5 days of 7. So my first question is who would like to give me a hand with this that has the tools and space? I don't really have the tools nesscary, or knowledge once I get my 3000 and covers off.
Secondly, I'm thinking that I will have someone do the HG job for me while I am Europe at the beginning of August, I'm just hoping I'll be able to afford it....So if anyone would do it for me for cheap, and/or has some hookups/knows where I can get a cheap HG set, yet good, that would be great. Let me know guys.

IMO if you get any other HG than Toyota, you're asking for trouble.
If I were in WA, I'd be happy to help you out. I hope someone will chime in. I can think of a few members in WA, don't know if they're in your area.

Learn by doing. I would get it done before you head to Europe, so you can be there and witness first-hand how it goes, and you'll have someone there to guide you in the right direction.

Alright.
Yeah, they should, I was going to post it in the NW forum, but it doesn't get a lot of hits, so yeah.

I just don't have the time to really, I only have 2 days off a week and I don't really think I could do it in that time, taking other people's work scheduals into consideration.

I know that if time was a factor, and all that was needed was the head gasket, I could do it in a day. Provided I had all the parts.

you need head bolts too, btw.

I'm down, i'll give you a hand.
I have pretty much all the tools needed to tear down a 7M to the last bolt, definitely everything to do a retorque / hg change

I just realized 1 tool i don't have, a torque wrench, i do need to buy one though...

I even have a composite headgasket... although i don't know if I'd use it, it's from a crappy ebay kit. All you should need is a toyota headgasket kit and preferably some ARP bolts / studs. You could get new toyota headbolts though

Yeah i'll drop by work and check my schedule, if you could borrow heff's that would work great, he lives close to you, right? The retorque only takes about 40 minutes longer then a spark plug change, probably less

Yeah, I'll hit him up when he wakes up :yelrotflm :yelrotflm him and his graveyard shifts.
Great, we did a compression check the other night and that took about 2-3 hours, so we should be able to do this in 3ish.

If it takes 3 hours i'm gonna be a bit embarassed, should be quicker then that! You might want to pick up a throttle body gasket, i have The RIght Stuff (FIPG) but i'm not sure if it's suitable for a TB.

I think i'm gonna run to work within the next 2 hours, I'll give you a call when i get there

You said you needed space to do it? Probably shouldn't do it at my apt. but if you can make it to N. Seattle (just north of the university district) we could do it at my parents house or at my friend ryans house (guy with the stealth)

haha,
it took us pretty long because Heff wanted me to figure everything out and learn a bit. How much does that cost?
I work at 3, so if I don't pick up, or if it goes straight to my machine, just leave a message, I dont get a very good signal at work.
I can definately make it out to Seattle. If you're not busy tonight we could do it after I get off work at 9 maybe.

We could possibly do that if i don't have either day off, but i'd rather do it in the light. Especially when we have to keep track of the retorque sequence. Looks like schucks has a fel-pro TB Gasket for 3.50 (2.99 if you print it out from partsamerica.com) Or if someone chimes in and says Right Stuff is ok to use for the TB, i got it covered!

Generous guy nate! At the minimum you'd need new headbolts and some random gaskets. It would be a real good idea to get a toyota gasket set and also change some hoses that are easy to get at while you're going that far

Ok enough SM, i'm heading out lol
