can the type of pressure plate you have affect the performance of your car?
before i had the clutch changed in my car the car pulled like mad. and when i raced my friends srt-4 i could hang side by side with him. i know i know big deal right well he has full borla exhaust and all i had was an intake and electric fan and no exhaust. but when i got my clutch changed they said the pressure plate from the 7mge wouldn't work so i had to go to a clutch specialist in town and he gave me a pressure plate from a toyota t100 truck and when i got the car finished it will not pull half as hard as before. when i race my friends srt he like leaves me by 3-4 cars easy and he has done nothing to it. is this something to do with the clutch kit or what any info would help.

PP from a truck? Never heard that one before. But it could weigh a lot more than the supra one, robbing HP. I would try to find out just how much that PP weighs, and go from there. What is up with these shops doing all this off the wall crap.

i cant see it making THAT much of a difference... but hey, i guess anything's possible? did you have the origional 1g pressure plate? if so, you could send it to (i think its called clutchnet) and have the PP springs upgraded...

when replacing my clutch and pp, i had to order like 5 kits through the shop in order to find the right one. (what is so hard to understand about the word TURBO???) the sent me n/a clutches, tacoma kits, t100 kits. i think if i remeber right, the truck series pp is a lil diffrent. it shouldnt bolt up to the supra. but then again i could be wrong.

i know its a pita to carry a clutch kit a half mile to try to order the new one.
