I have a question when i bought my 1986.5 supra the powersteering wasnt working, its fine to drive but would like to know if anyone had to replace thier powersteering and how much it cost, or if it was just a leak how much that cost to replace the hose. It hasnt been working for a couple of years, according to the guy.

Well it depends, If its the rack leaking, it can get pretty expensive. The rack is a pain in the butt to replace. I had the rack replaced on my sisters 87 supra and it cost nearly 1k to replace. After that we replaced the rack on my buddies 87 supra while the engine was out for rebuilding. Still it was a pain in the butt dealing with taking the front wheels off and codder pins. Now if its the pump or a hose than it won't be as bad. But most of the time its the rack that goes. Get under the car and see where the leak is coming from. That'll narrow it down to how much its going to cost you. Good luck!

Really, wheels and cotter pins are a pain to take off?

I herd the power steering rack is actually pretty easy, a few bolts and it comes right out(with the motor In place).

For the OP, I would flush out the fluid and add the proper ATF fluid back in. If there is a leak find out where it's at and go from there. I might just be a leaky hose or bad fluid which would be easy to fix.

A rebuilt rack should be $250 or so. New ones aren't available any more. It's not that bad to replace. The most annoying part is getting an alignment afterwards.
