power steering leak

Replaced the power steering pump and the vaccuum port is leaking terrible where it threads into back of pump. Should plumbers tape be used on threads??

You can. Sure it's tight enough?

Put it on pretty tight but im wondering since it was a rebuilt from autozone if the spray paint clogged up the threads not allowing me to fully tighten? So you have successfully replaced it without the tape?

You can use tape or not use tape. That is up to you.

The manual doesn't mention tape and its not used from the factory.

Quick update. The brass fitting had gotten jammed underneath. Took it out and filed down the spurs.
