I just got my '91 turbo back out on the road, but I still have a few problems. First, and I think the biggest issue as far as driving, is my power steering. I have a brand new pump and I filled it with dextron III/ mercon, but it fights me every time I turn the wheel. I kinda need this figured out soon cause I daily the car and right now it is a B#$@& to drive.

Second My ABS light will not go out. I checked the code and it said it was the rear speed monitor. So I saudered in a new one but the light is still on. I know the old one was the problem cause when I took it out it was broken in half. What could it be?

Thanks a lot in advance for all of the help.

Is the P/S reservoir the original? It probably needs to be taken out and cleaned with brake cleaner (especially the screen at the bottom), could be keeping the pump from getting fluid. Flushing the whole system is also a good idea.

the first thing with the power steering. Did you bleed it per the tsrm after you installed the new PS pump?

On the rear speed monitor (sensor). You saudered? Do you mean soldered? the rear speed sensor is located within the transmission and it is held by two bolts and the connector is above the transmission.

what did you sauder exactly?

There was a unit labeled some kind of speed monitor located on the driver side of the trans. right above the rear mounting bracket/brace. That is what was soldered in, and by soldered I mean that the wires to and from the unit were cut and soldered. As for the P/S the reservoir is the original and we bleed the system the way it said in the instructions that came with the pump. I have a new pump that comes in tomorrow cause the old one is under warranty and unless we can figure it out by Sunday, that's when the new pump goes in and hopefully we can get it right.
