Put a new hg in my 1988 supra. Put everything back together. Put key in on position, lights on dash come on, then went to crank it over and then power is completely cut from whole car. Nothing works after that. After a couple of minutes or after disconnecting battery and connecting it back i get power from battery to vehicle. This also happens when i put key in on then put high beams on. Maybe anything with a high load causes it to cut power to vehicle but idk whats wrong cuz it has run before without this happening ive chked fuses and grounds and battery has 14v with tight connections. Anyone can help?

Check/replace your battery terminals, and the ground strap. I had a similar thing happen to my old 86.5, went to start it one day and all of the electronics shut down. It was the ground terminal on the battery.

^What he said.

Having 14 volts is a little concerning if the alternator is not supplementing the battery voltage.

My best guess is that your battery is highly sulphated making the cell resistance extremely high. When no load is applied the voltage checks out ok, but when there is a load that's when the battery can not give the amps.

To confirm have a buddy crank the engine while measuring voltage at the battery. Or take the battery to autozone or equivalent to have a load test done on it.

U guys are funny lol. My meter is bad, reads 15-19 volts for every battery, and it is a craftsman not a harbor freight still under warranty i think. I took battery to advanced and they did a load test...said battery was good just needed to be charged. It had around 11.6 volts. I had them charge it then they tested it again and said good.
