I already know the R154 can take 600hp through it, correct me if i am wrong. What can the W55 and W58 take? I have also read that the R154 trannies are very short, are the W55 and W58 the same short length as well? Thanks

short? gear wise or physical length wise? im pretty sure the w58 is a tad shorter (or lnoger not sure) as they have different driveshafts.

apparently the w58 can hold about 300 before you run into problems? just guessing by what othrs have said tho.

the w58 can hold 400ish. if you beat on it constantly, it'll die. you'll need a good clutch, obviously, in order to attain that goal, on either tranny.

the r154, if in decent condition, with good gear oil, can hold massive amounts of power. :)

Yah i am talking about physical length wise. Compared to other import rear wheel drive transmissions. People that have used these trannys on S13's have said they are almost 6" shorter than a S13 tranny. I think i need a R154, 300-400hp capability is not enough, i will be pushing 550-600 through the transmission with a RPS stage 3 clutch, i need a strong transmission. Plus the R154 clutches hold alot more power than the W58 clutches do. I bet that RPS clutch is hard as hell to push in....

I'm sure the weight of the vehicle and torque applied to the trans will affect how much it will take before it blows up. In a lighter car can take more power and in a heavier car take less power. Am I right here? b/c it's stress that caused it to fail.

we'll see how my w58 lasts at over 400rwhp and my heavy foot. just before summer comes around, is when i'll be getting my turbo upgraded. ;)

after that, i might have a CM stage III and fidanza lwfw for sale :p

umm, sorry to change the subject, but what does it mean when you let the clutch out in neutral, and the car moves forward slightly?, also my r154 makes a slight rattling sound when revved at idle, and also when taking off in 1st gear, and sometimes 2nd...??
