Hey all. I'm making this post because I've got my eye on a Supra back here in Iceland. To begin I want you, the reader, to keep that in mind that the Supra is pretty rare here in Iceland and also a bit hard to get.

What I know about this Supra are few. I do know that the guy who owns this Supra owns another one, and he used this one to part up his other car. Nothing much missing though. Mainly the engine (7M-GE) and the transmission (which I belive was W58 rather than the R154, correct me if you know better than me about it). :sarcasm:
There are few minor things missing too which I could live with for a while, but would be better to have sooner than later. That is the back of the rear seats, and the left turn signal (if we look at the car from the front). And oh, on the drivers door the "door knob" (no idea what the english word is) is missing too.
There are probably few more things missing which isn't that crucial though, but ofcourse always good to have. :runaway:

Here are few pictures of it from my phone. It shows most of the parts that aren't so pretty on the body. Ofcourse there might be some more rust behind it, let's just hope not. :nono:

I can get that Supra for $158,24 and if I have to sell it due some reasons, I can always at least get $118,68 back at the scrap-yard. Though I bet some other car-holic people here in Iceland would buy it off me for the same money I can get it at, or even more.

I know it will take some work, and money, to get that car back on the street. But I'm willing to spend few years on it slow but steadily. It is the dream car after all. Plus I look at that car as a lovely way to learn more about them and how to fix a car over all. :naughty:
My grandpa is more than willing to keep the car in his garage, and help me with all the rust and everything that there has to do so there is no worry there neither.

But then the question is. Those parts that would be missing, it wouldn't be hard finding them in the UK or the USA? Even from Japan?
I know there is a sales corner here and I've seen few stuffs there I would need for that car if I buy it so I take it as it's not that hard to get those stuff that are missing. It'd only be the cost of shipping it that would be the down side I bet. :sarcasm:

Well. I'm 95% on buying that car even for it's condition. But with all my ideas, thinking, questions and information gathering I've been goin' through now for a month about it, I've no idea what I'm getting into since it'd be my first time I take a car in that condition and build it back up. :1zhelp:

Probably the missing turn signal is going to be the hardest part to locate. They're pretty rare here in the US, and not real common even in the UK though they do crop up from time to time. The engine might be expensive to get, but not that hard to find. The rest shouldn't be any big deal at all to come up with.

You've got a lot of rust there, but you already know that. Just make sure you take care of it properly and get rid of all of it. Check your spare tire well and up under the rear wheel wells, as they tend to rust out too.

But for the price it's a good deal, and since you're already planning on it being a long-term project you'll have the time to restore it the way it should be. Good luck with her.

Thanks for the vote honestabe, and the info earlier. :bigthumb:

And thanks mirage83 for your answer. The turn signal won't be a crucial thing for a while so I guess I've a good time to find it. But good to know that they won't be found that easily. About the engine, I figured it would be one of the most expensive part that I needed but the bright side of that is that I can scrap up some money in that time frame I'm lookin' at for that Supra. :biglaugh:

It's true about the rust. I just hope it isn't that bad under all the body. :sarcasm:
Good thing that my grandpa has been building up cars for ages. In his eyes all that rust isn't a problem at all. :evil2:

But again, thanks for your answer mate. And thanks for pointing out the spare tires and the rear wheels. I really appreciate it. :icon_bigg
I also heard that it is common under the passenger or the driver seat. :icon_mad:

Since there rare over there, I would say get it and fix it up. Just know that with all the visible rust, there will be a lot more that you cannot see by just looking the car over. Be prepared for the worst.

Thanks alot for that information Kristian! I'll look into it as soon as I buy the car (hopefully). It'd spare me some money I bet getting stuff shipped from Europe than the US. :sarcasm:

Ps. Snakker du dansk?
Yes. We get danish lessons in Iceland, haha. :evil2:

EDIT:
Thanks for your answer too mk3supra. I'm not ready and I will never be for the worst of rust, but that's something I'll do my best to kill though. :evil2:

Thanks again to all of you for your answers. I just called the guy that owns this Supra earlier today and he said that I could get it after the weekend (since he'll be elsewhere over that time). So yeah, I guess I'll have that car before the second weekend with all the papers done. :sarcasm:

I'll take some pictures also when it will be "home" and make a project thread about it. Can't promise any fast progress but to start with I'll be fixing all that rust I can and bring it back slow but steady.

So another Supra gets saved over here. I have looked at that one once or twice. Good luck whit it.
There is a guy on L2C that has a 1jz-gte, but he wants a lot for it.
Maybe we aught to get together and buy two engines form the guy in Denmark.

Any way I´m Supru-Guð on L2C.

Oh, hey mate. Nice to see you here too. Yeah, I guess we better save as much as we can of them, lovely cars.
About the 1JZ engine, I guess I'd pass on that. I was more thinking of the N/A 7M-GE with just a tiny little tuning. ;)

Ps.
I'm Skyzo at Live2Cruize as well as here. :sarcasm:

You can get a 2JZ on UK ebay. A JDM 2JZ-GTE in Denmark costs 2300 USD plus shipping.
Sounds good but like I said here above to Ice Supra, I'm aiming for the 7M-GE with a tiny tuning. :naughty:
