so i just fixed a bhg with a cometic mhg and arp bolts. i put everything back together then started it up and it seemed to be running fine. but after a few seconds a lot of smoke starts coming out of the exhaust and then a oil/water mixture started pouring out the exhaust:aigo: im thinking my turbo is shot, but it was fine when i took it off to fix the bhg. i ran the car for less then a minute and about a half a quart of milkyish oil poured out. i pulled all the spark plugs and looked down at the cylinders and none of them had oil or coolent on them. so what else could cause this? or is it a blown turbo?

i dont believe that water can leak from the turbo and into the exhaust, correct me if im wrong, and did you mill the block and head smooth before installing the MHG, and did you machine the block with the timing cover on?

he fixed a BHG... didnt do a rebuild.

and yes, the turbo can spew coolant out the exhaust. how? it cracks...

and whats more important is that the block was flat, and the head was decked.

fastest way to tell if your turbo is the issue, loop the coolant lines and just leave them unplugged and see if you have the same problem. but my guess is that you have other issues...

I guess that would leak coolant into the exhuast, i meant no seals can make that happen, and as for my machining comment i just figured he had the block and head milled smooth and if they did it without the timing cover on that would cause a problem

yeah i did get the head resurfaced and i cleaned up the block with a razor blade and 400 grit sandpaper, i checked the surface and it was within spec.

ok ill loop the coolant lines tomorrow morning and see if it still does it.

im not 100% sure how it happens... i just know that people have had coolant loss problems, and then they loop the lines and the problem is fixed.... so yeah.

next time just read what people post, because if you say certain things, then you will get called out on them, especially in the technical section. but the opener needs to do a compression test and if he can a leak down test to see if thats also his issue.

the oil in the dip stick was clean and their was no build up under the oil cap. although i only ran the car for a min so i dont know if i would have seen milky oil or not.

maybe there was coolant/oil in the exaust system from the previous BHG and its just pushing the old stuff out. seen it happen on a nissan pu, started it me and my buddy mad as hell, try to kill it-ran perfect lol. did your coolant or oil drop at all? i'd loop the turbo coolant like said^^ and run her for atleast a few more minutes soo what happens, if shes f***** it gotta get done neways. best of luck
