ok this has happend to my moms car before, well it hasnt offically been diagnosed that way yet, but im getting the same symtoms from the first time.
well first time it happend the 2j was showing that there was no oil in the oil pan, and at the moment yes the oil light came on. i waited awhile to check the oil level and still nothing so i added a quart, waited..... still nothing, added another quart, idled.. turned off.. waited... still nothing....
come to find out after lexus charges almost everything out of my moms bank that i had overfilled it..... ok how is that possible?, the car doesnt have a second oil pan, it doesnt leak/burn oil so where the heck is it going? the dipstick itself looks stock, never been tamperd with in any way that i know of, ive checked the oil before with it and it works.
and its starting all over i think, i havent had time to get underneath the car, and i know it isnt burning oil, i drive the car from time to time still, it has always been grandma driven, so i feel like i can rule out a leak.. ill still check though...
the oil isnt black and gunking up anywhere, it is time to change it though, and i think but not positive but last time this happend i think i was near time to change the oil. but the oil has always been changed between the 3000 mark.
she uses 5W-30, i live in oregon, and temprature hasnt dropped enough to effect viscosity. i hope ive added every detail.
any ideas? anyone run into this before?
she drives a automatic GS300, and i know the difference between an oil dipstick and the automatic one. lol
