Hey, just repurchased another mk3 (87 turbo 7mgte) right after I sold my 89 na/turbo project. all work was done by the previous owner on the 87.

I was on my way to a performance shop to have the car looked at. When I parked it the car sprung a coolant leak out of the heater hose(back left if you are looking at the motor). The heater core was bypassed and blocked off.
The tech at the shop to just quick fix me recapped it back off.

This is where the possible problem starts. He refills my coolant and has another tech give the car some gas. It bubbles out an air bubble then he refilled it to the top.
At idle the coolant stays level, but when you give it gas the coolant gets sucked inwards but then returns back to it previous fill level where it was full once back to idle.

He stated i may have a head gasket issue. I do know the head is torqued to stock which concerns me and the car has 113k original miles and the hg was replaced about 50k ago.

Current mods (upgraded ic piping, upgraded intercooler, atmosphere vented bov.
thats all i really know about the car.)

Any help is good help. Thank you for looking! :1zhelp:

alright. My main concern/question was, is it normal for the coolant levels to fluctuation while stepping on the gas. which was what lead to the theory.

i had a coolant leak. So yes a good amount of coolant was lost when the car was turned off the leak sprung. It was refilled, then an air bubble was releaved. the strange part after this happened i drove about 20 min to get new tires put on and for the first time since owning the car, it struggled to start.
Kept stalling out until i just gave it some gas and left it at around 2-3k rpm to keep it running then it leveled out and was fine. :-/.

all i needed to know :). They are great guys but they specialize in bmw's/german cars. They are also the closest around me. The hunt continues.

Any recommendations for the tampa, fl area. (I'm not in tampa but it's the closest big area)
