well I was reading up on this:
http://www.supras.com/04/techcenter/display.php?QID=11

I have a K&N drop in and would like to modify the stock air box. My old 88 N/a supra when I bought it had this already done along with a snorkel to provide colder air. Here is a pic of this intake on my 88 N/a:

So I am going to try and do this to my 90 turbo air box. Does this mod actually do something or no??? will it really allow more air flow????? I rember it does give a cool noises to the intake sorta of a turbine noises from the front. I dunno if im goign to add a snorkel though for colder air as that might be a little hard to get one to go in there. What kind of tool would be the best it says to use a hacksaw but won't that make it kind of sloppy??

imput or comments greatly appricated

any open air intake will flow more than an enclosed box, i would think. also, the back half of the air box will act like a heat shield, not the best, but it should keep from sucking too much hot air.

hack saw it and sand the edges if you must.

sheesh, you ask like 50 questions a day now! one would think you know this stuff already ;) just bustin your ass :)

yeah i know but there so much i want to learn. I already spend hours and hours just browsing the forums, hell if i didn't want to be as annoying as hell i'd post liek 100 questions a day. just want some input on this mod before I decide to do it sometime this week.

i would think it would be in u'r best interest to get some sort of snorkle on it, so as to get cold air into the system, otherwise it just sucks in hot air and doesn't give u the improvement u'd like to see.

in all seriousness, the only improvement is going to be sound, and maybe a little better throttle response that an ant might feel.

you have to open up that exhaust of yours, buy a mbc or an ebc, then up the boost untill fc. only then will you "feel" a difference.

it just seemed like an easy mod thats all, remeber all this small things add up, hell why else would I wrap my intake and pcv pipes in heat reflective tape I know it makes such a small difference but I do it anyways.

doesn't seem like though anyone else on the board has done this mod though....

tape off where u wanna cut, then use a dremel if u have one. i did mine in about 2 minutes. except i pretty much took it ALL off i could except for the parts holding on the mounting tabs. even though i dont have mountings screws, buts thats ok :)
