ok so i was out driving the supra. I was taking it in and out of boost giving her a good work out and everything is driving perfect. I pull off this semi-highway thing(has exit ramps and stop lights) into a grocery store parking lot and see if the pizza place was open. stop at the exit of the parking lot on this road at the stop sign and i see cars in the distance coming fast. So i put it in first and nail it goto 4500rpm shift in 2nd goto about 4500rpm again and shift i take third to 5500rpm. Either right before and while shifting to 4th i here BANG the car backfires(i think unless my problem could make a bang that could sound like a backfire, but my car runs rich so it usualy is a backfires) and the rpms goto 0 as i put it in 4th. it was a slow shift cause i wasnt accelerating anymore, well as im putting it in gear the rpms drop to 0 and when i put it in gear they dont go back up the car doesnt restart. so i take it outa gear while still rolling and turn the key.... nothing.... so i just came upon one of the exit ramps were the road splits off. and the car stops at the end of the assfault on this empty median thing between the road and the ramp. I try starting it and the car turns over normally, and i hear it puffing from the pistons moving up and down out the exhaust(the exhuast end right under the trunk of the car. I just have no combustion. I noticed when the ignition was all the way on the S-AFC wasnt turning on... wtf? so i check all the fuses on the driver side, i check all the fuses under the hood and bingo i found the blow fuse it was the 15A EFI fuse under the hood in the fuse box. that explains why its doing this. so i pull the cigarret lighter fuse to use as the efi fuse(both 15). i put it in and start the car......nothing. check the fuse and its blown again. SHIT! so I disconnect the ground, then i disconnect the power wire for my amp from the battery, then i take the cd player completely out unplugged the adapter harness from the plugs for the stock harness, then since i dont have my glove box put back in yet i checked all the wiring to the ecu all the plugs are in all the way from what i could see the S-AFC wiring was all good cause i peeled back the eletrical tape. and didnt see breaks in any of the indavidualy wrapped in eletrical tape sauderd wirings. so after i do all the i put in another fuse and it blows. then i up pluge the s-afc since between the harness and wire that goes into the s-afc there is a plug i unplugged it and it blew it again. were could the sort be or what besides a short could be blowing it?

nope, no codes. just a blown fuse. its not a big one its just your average clear blue skinny fuse that says 15 on the top

My brain isn't working at it's full capacity at the moment, because it's late...but, If it is blowing a fuse, there has to be faulty wiring somewhere... Either a short, or the wiring is overloaded...I would look around for melted wires... especially around where the downpipe is along the firewall, and around the EGR valve, as sometimes, the wires can hit it and melt together, causing a short.

Also, what exactly was the sound like? Did it sound like a POP! or did it sound more like something broke (metal), or fell onto the ground?

it was a bang, pop kinda noise. like the exact noise of a car backfiring and spitting flames(which my friend informed me a couple weeks ago when i really get on it, it spits out a flame). I dont have the egr system on my car anymore. and ill need to look around the down pipe for melted wiring, what part of the EFI is by the downpipe?

The pop noise you heard was the efi system shutting completely down.

The 15amp fuse is the EFI fuse.

Pop it back in and the car should fire up enough to get home.

Then, check for shorts or electrical problems.

If you short the o2 sensor wires out on the block or manifold, you can possibly pop that fuse.

.....:icon_bigg

This happened to me once. Luckily I noticed it right away due to the little amount of smoke sizzling above my turbo.

when it happend was 12:30am on the side of the road. all i had for light was my cell phone's camera.the only thing that sucks is i had to pay $100 to have a car towed at 3:30am on a saturday about 8 miles down the road, just to have it be the o2 sensor wire..... oh well im just glad my problem is fixed w00t!

OK, all three wires got wrapped a 1/2 inch beyond the burn spot. then the insulation tube removed and the entire bundle wrapped again togethar. the car runs but does not idle well. it would start and went to 500rpms(my normal idle before all this was set to 1000rpms and i didnt touch the screw or timing) and since it was so low kept trying to stall. after a few times of starting it and it stalling i kept it going by holding the throttle but when id let off it would stall. Then it started and idled between 700 - 800 which from the begining it never liked and it will stay at that and idle there then u touch the gas and it doesnt catch itself till about 400rpms then it will struggle and get it back or stall its about 50/50. Do you think that the ecu is just relearning stuff and it will return to normal soon?im about ready to go drive it.
