Hello!
I've read in some posts that NA filter bracket is better, than turbo version.
Couldn't you explain in details, please?

What should I install on stock GTE oil system from NA to improove it?
Should I change big bolt or whole bracket? (I'm using stock oil coolers)

Thanks a lot!

There is no oil filter bracket on the N/A. The oil filter screws directly into the block. Nothing about the N/A oil system is better then the turbo, except that it's easier to reach the oil filter on the N/A because there is no turbo in the way :)

I think that what he is referring to is the idea of using a relocation kit with the NA setup to avoid having only some of your oil going through the oil cooler.

Mr. Y, this is not a guaranteed advantage, but I'll try to explain.

In my understanding (anyone feel free to jump in and correct me here) the stock system picks up oil from the pan and sends it to the filter. After the filter there is a pressure based valve that will direct oil in two directions - into the engine then back into the pan, and, if the pressure is high enough, into the oil cooler, then from there back into the pan.

The disadvantage to this - well, there are a couple. The colder oil that has just passed through the oil cooler doesn't go directly into the engine, it is mixed back into the hot oil in the pan. Also, your oil pressure is highest when you oil is cold - therefore, you'll get more flow through the cooler when the oil needs it the least - when it is already cold.

So, how to fix this?

Ideally, you setup a system where all of the oil goes through the filter, then, based on a temperature bypass valve, it either all goes through the oil cooler and into the engine, or, if your oil is still cold, it just goes straight into the engine.

This could be accomplished by using an oil filter relocation kit, and aftermarket temp by pass valve, and running them all in series.

Thanks - but I'd like to see someone build it, run it, and post feedback first. I'm seriously considering setting this up on my next engine. I don't know if anyone is actually using this setup, or if it's all just theory at this time.
