Ok I plan to do a 2jz-gte swap into my 91 turbo 5spd daily driver. but i have a few questions first off i want to run the car using a 1jz harness and ecu to simplify the wiring by ALOT! no need for aem or anything since its just a daily unless someone convinces me oherwise. I plan to get a single manifold and run a t66 or something along those lines i want to keep AC and power steering. I have searched all over with no luck on what i want to do i need someone to give me a rough parts list/ how to. My main focus is to make this easy I hate wiring. I was told to get a 2jz bottom end and put a 1jz head on it to run 1jz electronics,, is there a way to run a full on 2jz-gte from 1j stuff just due to the head flowing a little better i guess? anyway i am a total noob when it comes to The Jz family so excuse my dumb questions and try to help me out. I have to learn sometime

Thanks In Advance
BJ

1st off : http://www.supras.nl/index.php?optio...34&Itemi d=50

and

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29117

2nd, you can run a 2jz with a 1jz harness. It plugs in the same way a 1jz would.

3rd : to install a 2jz in a MKIII body, you will need a 1JZ engine brackets from a JZA70 model ( nothing else) or get a bracket from BIC - Randy

4th, depending on which car you get a 2jz out of, you will need a rear sump oil pan as well / upper and lower. . Aristo engines are all front sumps. You will be able to use a sump from a 1jz out of a Supra

5th. If you want to run the 5 speed from the Supra, you will need the 7m tranny and clutch setup mated to a 1jz bell housing and flywheel.

1jz harness + stock ecu + 2jz 550 injectors ( usdm ones will need the resistor wired in ) + a piggy back (Greddy emanage Blue or SAFC-II will work ) + a 2jz motor/BIC mounts

Dang people make things so tough

Get a 1JZ-GTE (JZA70) if you hate electronics and messing around with a swap it is perfect for dailey and makes about the same power and spools up quicker revs higher etc... get the clip from driftmotion 2500 comes with all the parts you need.

Only buy a 2JZGTE if you are making over 800RWHP or plan on making more pretty plain and simple by the time you buy the 1JZGTE harness the 1jzgte ecu the low milage 5 speed that you get with a clip the bell housing the motor mounts the dash for the tach to work by the time you buy the 1jzgte parts to make the 2jzgte work then all the down time and work the out comes is nearly the same as getting a drop in clip with parts for 2500

jza70 clip can be swapped in 2 weeks or less what you are talking about can take several upon several months.

dont get me wrong there is benys to the 1jzgte ecu & harness its map and revs higher simpler wiring... but remember the disadvantages like lower boost cut and fuel cut and haves a speed cut from the signal coming from the tach less of a market for plug and play harness adapters like the usdm 2jzgte harness.

If you want 800+RWHP get a 2JZGTE with motec or wolfstand alone ECU upgrade fmic turbo cams clutch flywheel 1 piece drive shaft fuel lines injectors regulator hoses lines turbo exhaust manifold headers down pipe manament wideband o2 sensors fuel pump maybe goto fuel cell exhaust intake lines it gets nuts....

Just get a 1jzgte and be happy

well not to be an ass but i kinda have my heart set on 3.0L I want the high aftermartket support and oem support. plus if i do 550's and emanage or simmaler device i am pretty sure i wont have fuel cut issues. single 2jz is what i really want in my daily . Down time is well not an issue right now i am not in school and work scedule is very open on my way to self employment. and down the road i may be shooting for higher HP numbers. what will the 1j harness stock ecu+piggyback limt me to??

OR. what if i put a 1jz head on a 2jz block what kinda power would that limit me to? I am really looking for 3.0L... I only really am shooting for 450-500 at the wheels for now

You know, if you want a 2jz in your car, then you do it. If you ask for other peoples' opinion, that is what you will get. 2jz and 1jz price difference is not that much. both Engines are basically the same except for bigger displacement and "maybe" quality of some components differ.

I have owned a mildy built 7m, a bpu 1jz and now I am putting a 2jz in my car. Engine wise, I am using everything off a 1jz on my 2jz block.
I am using a Aristo harness with the aristo ecu / emanage as a piggy back.

Amount of work is the same if you are wiring it from scratch. Wiring information is available for both engines in a MKIII body. I posted the links.

If you want a 2jz, then I say get that and make it work. It is not hard. If you ask 1 question, you will get multiple answers to confuse you. :):biglaugh:

If maintained properly, both engines will be reliable. I never had a problem with my 1jz - never - and am hoping for the same from the 2jz. I wish I could say the same for the 7mgte :(

Going with a 2jz block/1jz head ( aka 1.5 jz) is a waste of time. IF you can bolt up a 1jz head, why not throw the 2jz head on it instead. The 1jz electronics will run the car regardless...

What about the plugs where the engine harness plugs into the chassis (glovebox) are they gonna be the same on the 1j harness if i get it from a supra??

The plugs are the same. But the wires need to be repinned on the body side. Talk to Aaaron at driftmotion and have him make you a jumper harness so you won't have to worry about that part. It is not expensive and saves you a few headaches.
Ofcourse you will need to send him some plugs to make one.Ask him what he will need.

How much is your final target hp ?
Less then 750hp or More then 750hp

How much would you like to spend in base swap parts ?
