Piston/Rod question

hi, im currently brought my rods and pistons to my machine shop and im wondering which was the rod is suppose to be on.
rod has markings: numbers on one side and dotted numbers on the other side.

so...if the piston is facing forward (arrow) is the dotted numbers facing left?

(reason i ask this is i had pistons/rods in my garage and saw its dotted facing left and now my new ones are facing right.

See how the rod closest to the camera has the two marks on the cap, and one on top above the big end, and the one further away doesnt? The marks go towards the front.
