Ok so i am rebuilding my engine after i burned a hole in my cyl#1 piston running maft pro on a mp t71 turbo stock injectors 13 lbs boost good tune....

i will be switching to a standalone , bigger injectors... gonna get it dyno-tuned hoping for 5-600 rwhp and toying with the idea of running a zex turbo spooling nos system....

I have been getting conflicting information about pistons and was hoping to tap into the mass of knowledge that i seem to be lacking lol

What are your thoughts on stock vs forged pistons? I have been told that stock pistons will hold up fine assuming i have a good tune and therefore forged pistons are a waste of money ... if that is true i would rather spend the 3-700 bucks on something more necessary .... but i want to do this right
if i should go forged what do you recommend? ??? I want to get the best bang for my buck on this build

I come from a land down under
Forged just give you more overhead/resistance to detonation, a shit tune will kill either it's just a matter of time.

My feeling is the structural limit of a cast piston will be very high IF you keep it out of detonation (this includes incipient detonation, google it)

For the cost I like the insurance of forged.

Would probe forged be good enough and are the probe forged pistons on driftmotion for a turbo engine?they dont appear to be dished... not that that matters just an observation

Too much issues with probe.

Yeah yeah, blah blah blah about grinding down the tops.

If you don't have good enough quality control to fix that issue that has been around for a long time no, there is no reason to buy your product.

CP, JE or Weisco as Hvyman said will get it done.

I like CP over anything else as I have seen them in many high HP Supras doing fine and now recently, UGR is beating the crap out of them with their 1500 RWHP Lambos.

Ouch $$$$ lol ok whats the advantages to running one of those brand/style over another? I have heard great things about cp just curious about why.... this will be the first engine i have built... i have a couple friends at a local shop who are helping me put it together but i am choosing all the parts dont want to skimp at all but that being said i dont want to spent an extra hundred dollers on a brand name if there is a compairable cheaper alternative

spend the money the first time. you should be able to get good pistons for $800 or so.
i bought a freshly rebuilt short block, with all new factory parts..... and i think i'm going to put in forged pistons and 2jz rods for extra insurance before i even throw it in the car.

Eagles are good rods. Just upgrade to the better rod bolts. Tell them you want the upgrade and you'll pay.

I believe they are called the 3000 bolts but don't quote me on that. You can't go wrong with eagles.

Awesome thanks ... would that be a better option than going arp rod bolts?

They are upgraded bolts.

I believe it goes ARP 8740, ARP 2000 and ARP 625+, 625+ being the strongest and more expensive.

I am sure you will be fine with the standard bolt.

I noticed that nobody has mentioned Arias- Are they not considered to be as good as others mentioned?
Also- IJ, you mention the Ross are the heavier choice of pistons. Is there a thread that mentions piston weights of all the manufacturers?
Or if you happen to know, what are the weight differences between a Ross, for example, and a CP?
