Whats the prefered brand - Weisco, JE, Ross etc. My builder says to
replace the stock cast pistons, are they that weak. I know they are cast
and not forged. Looking to produce around 400 whp--

JE for me. I chose to get the best I knew of at the time. Although I haven;t fired it yet, I'm not worried. Well, about the pistons anyway :icon_razz

i got je pistons for my saab - havent installed them yet but they are a well recognised brand like the rest which u mentioned - dont think there gonna be enough of a difference between them to strtess about

<edit IJ> Enough whining about what people charge to ship parts.
It's your choice just like it's everyone else's if you don't want to pay the shipping don't.

I hace CP's. No complaints here. I think you should go which ever brand you get a good price on unless you are shooting for mega hp, then go for the best... but I then again, I dont know which make is the best.. :)

Thanks, for the replys - guess I will be looking for JEs or Weiscos better
safe than sorry. I understand that forged pistons will withstand detonation
better than the stock cast. Hopefuly I will not be testing this theory.

JE 40" for me. Off the shelf item and not too bad a price. Just have to get JE rings to suit the pistons. No slap/noise at startup or when running. Motor sounds more "beefy/meatier" than my other motors.
