Ok GUYS!!! HERE IT IS!

The Phoenix6 Build thread

After long deliberation and work and help from friends, Im finally ready to show off everything SO FAR.


Im gonna ask questions I hope get answered in here along the way too. Anyways, before I start I wanna thank EVERYONE on here for all of your help and information so far. I also want to thank my friends who are helping me out with everything, hands on, rides to places and so on. Alex, Steve, Jeff, and any others that showed up so far, thanks a ton.

So there it is!!!

First question, I went to advance auto, wanted to check on main bearings and all, HOW DO I GET SPECIFIC SIZES I NEED? I need 3s and one 4 size main bearings, all they have is STANDARD SIZE and oversized (.25mm, .50mm or .75mm) How the hell do I get the right bearings?!!?

Oh and question 2, how do I get the pistons off the rods, I know I have to heat them to 140* but whats the best way to do that?

Ive never done it, but the oven seems like the most logical solution to me.

UPDATES:

Switched over all the pistons from the GE rods to the GTE donor rods. Got the front end off the GE and took out the crank, tomorrow Im purchasing the rest of the parts, putting it all back together. I really hope I remember where everytyhing goes....

Got the new crankshaft installed!! All the plastigauge clearences are ON PAR.

The crank turns almost 100% smoother than the other one did when I had it in, I can turn it by hand which, feels great. I checked everything, its all correct so far, getting hte pistons in now.
