PCV q's?

so the nipples on the top of the valve covers should not be releasing any gases? cause I put a remote breathing catch can on it and she starts fuming after I've been driving awhile. it's a JDM motor so I figured the rings were good, but the head has visited a shop for a valve job and P&P.... did they do something wrong? should I take it to them and expect them to fix it?

All motors have some blowby it's just the way they are as you need an end gap on the rings.

You should run a hose from the can to the stock PCV fitting.

I'm really not getting this facination with running just a can or those little filters on the cam covers.....

Unless the motor is breathing really heavy it's not going to affect performance sucking it back into the intake and if it does have excessive blowby you shouldn't be leaning on it that heavily anyway.

well when I do go and dump my can it's not oil but what seems like carbonated water (like really nasty water) and the idea of that going into my turbo and then the chambers is kinda scarry. isn't it done for emmisions anyway?

The PCV system is considered the best polution control system added to an engine, for the engine, that is.

It helps remove blowby gasses from the crankcase that get there from the combustion chamber. It also helps remove water from the crankcase. Water condenses in the crankcase when the engine cools down (like all day while you're at work, and over night.

The intake side of the system goes directly into the throttlebody, and not into the turbo. It is true that a coating of oil vapor film will form on the intake passages.

Catch cans will work. Expect to find a bit of oil and water in them from time to time.
