I just installed that cheap knockoff floor bar for sale on ebay. It's thicker and heavier than I thought, probably 1.5" thick. It looks like it was hand made by someone but it seems really strong. It was painted a silver colour which didn't look too great plus it got chipped during shipping so I painted mine flat black. Installation was fine but I had to drill and tap another hole in the frame to install 2 bolts per side. The unit looks like a universal item for many cars. I think it would have moved around with only one bolt. I did noticed an improvement with the top off, feels more solid and stable with less of the wiggle/vibration. It didn't completely get rid of the wiggle but it did lessen it. It's a good deal at $80 for us guys who can make it work.

Do a search on ebay for supra floor bar. I got the one for $59.75 plus $22 shipping. It is hollow steel with aluminum end plates. It looks like someone's got an all-aluminum one now for cheaper. I wonder how rigid that would be? The chrome would probably chip on it if it's anything like the other cheap chrome stuff. Anyone know if the original do-luck bar is steel or aluminium?

It seems like kind of a bad design to me... With something so close to the existing body, you might as well just attach material directly to the floor. It would be more effective at increasing rigidity. With it only connected on each end it is not doing much considering the weight...

I didn't like they silver textured finish so I took mine to be chrome plated, looks beautiful. I didn't notice much of a difference as far as rigidity, but mine is only secured by the seatbelt and is not very firm.

I plan to have someone fabricate a 2-pc bracket, with one end welded to the frame and the other that mates to this bar rigidly later on.... same time I get my lambo doors installed ;)

the rear speaker pods protrude into the passengers space, but seating is still comfortable back there i would say.

I think you could use it as a arm rest. I've seen those pics befor
