This may seem like a dumb question but 7m's never came with painted blocks right?? The kid i got my newest supra from told me that it was all original and never had the HG done so he even gave me a metal one when i traded him my hachi but when i was changing my oil today i noticed that the block is painted blue?

Granted the kid was a total idiot (when i was telling him about my friends turbo swapped 400whp 7m he asked me if he upgraded to the w58 LMAO and also tried telling me something about how he wanted to turbo this supra cause the 7mge is exactly the same as the gte just different ecu's LMAO again).

Considering the blocks blue and how clean everything under the engine bay and that it only has 64k miles is it pretty safe to assume that i got a new HG and can be worry free for another 40-50k miles? haha.

I'd worry about a headgasket everyday if I was driving a stock 7m. All bs aside, If I had the metal headgasket just sittin there, I'd buy some headstuds and heater hoses and spend the next free weekend upgrading so I don't have to worry. That's just me though.

You're forgetting pulling/stripping the block to have it surfaced so it's NOT going to be "a weekend" to achieve a worry free state of mind....

In reality I have the block prep MHG down pat and my 7M's don't have an issue with BHG's BUT the worry never goes away ;)

Amen there IJ ! I have mine done up nicely with a 1.2 HKS bead style, decked and skimmed, and I worry everytime I put it under high boost. ( high boost for me right now is only 8.4 since I can't get this damn ebay boost controller to go any higher. )

Well if I could get it higher I would take it to about 13psi but with this ebay boost controller I can't figure it out to save my life. I have a thread about it.

8.4psi is nothing to worry about. I run 8psi on a stock hg with 57 trim.

yes, but stock hg size is 1.37mm iirc, and the HKS he has is only 1.2mm. Plus the block and head had to be partially shaved to achieve the proper RA for the headgasket to seal, so he's probably sitting somewhere around 1mm thickness.

I'll honestly say I do not know how to calculate compression ratio based on original compression, hg thickness, squish, etc, but if I had to give it a shot in the dark I'd say he's well over the stock 8.4:1 compression :biglaugh:
