Hey guys, ive been going through the wiring in my car for the past few weeks now, and its alot more difficult then i had hoped. At this point i am considering buying a painless chassis harness and be done with it. My question is, has anyone been successfull in wiring in the painless harness to their factory gauges? If so, how much work was it to intagrate everything in? We will be using a full aem ems as well.

Thanks
Ryan

Sounds like a terrible and inevitably unsuccessful idea - you'll probably sell the car before you get it working since you can't even work out the stock wiring.

Why were you "going through" your factory wiring?

What problems were you having that you were going through the factory wiring? Tell us your problems and maybe you can get them fixed WITHOUT doing a harness.

Also...dunno why they chose painless for the name when doing wiring harnesses is anything BUT painless...

If i was more familar with this car, im sure it wouldnt be such a big pain, but since i bought this car as a rolling chassis, and EVERY single harness in the car has been cut up, horribly spliced into or just missing entirly, it gets to be a bit much. Its missing connectors where there should be some, bare wires cut and spliced into other places, its a nightmare.

They even used Audio wire in some places on the engine harness, im sure because thats probabaly the only thing that was lying around. At this point im sure running labeled wires, to the basic components needed would be ALOT easier then going through 4 chassis harness's and an engine harness.

I just want to see if anyone had any luck getting the factory gauges working before i commit to taking out the stock harness.

Find yourself a parts car and use the harness out of that. A parts car is usually a good investment, and if you look around you will likely find one dirt cheap.

I come from a land down under
You need to spend some time in the TRSM circuit diagrams to understand the "Toyota Way" with their looms, they do some things "differently" to be kind and have been doing it this way since the start.

v2 on buying a parts car and swapping in a harness, I'm about to totally strip the entire wiring from my car and replace it and it's NOT an attractive proposition.
