Oxygen Sensor Cut!

Hello folks!

So as I was working on removing the head off of my 7mgte, I noticed there was two wires snipped that went towards the female connection of the oxygen sensor. Why this was done, I have no clue. Would it be possible to just strip off the coating on both sides and make a crimp connection with some 28ga I have laying around? I have read online that this method could cause more problems but what else could I do?

All I see in your picture is a dirty green connector with wires. If you crimp a wire, use a splice without insulation. Toyota sells them to fit the wires. Fill the crimp with a little solder and shrink wrap it. I myself would buy a new sensor because I am lazy like that.

Thank you for the information guys!

Im sorry for the shitty picture, I will try and take another later. The two wires I am talking about are on the far right side. One is red/green and the other looks orange.

The brown shielded wire is the signal wire. The red/green is one of the heater wires (there are two). I think the other is red/black. I had to solder an O2 connector that I took off another harness, and didn't have any problems.

That sounds good! Hopefully it won't cause me any problems as well. Is there any recommendations on the wire size I should use? I believe I have 24ga or 28ga laying around in my garage. The reason I have to extend it is because the wires were cut short.

I would probably just bypass the green connector since I have no clue how to insert the wires back in there. The previous owner snipped them super close towards the inside of the connector.

You can buy new pins for the connector and solder or crimp it in.

You need like 16 or 18 gauge wire.

I've never worked with electrical connectors so this is going to be a tough one! Would I have to open the actual small connector housing or is there a different route to doing this?
