I would find out where the coolant is going first. A lot of people here refer to the low coolant light(birdcage) as a BHG (blown head gasket) light. Not saying that is what is happening in your case, but you need to figure out where it is going..

How does your oil look?

Any white smoke out the exhaust when driving or at idle?

Any drips/drops of coolant on the ground or under your car?

That could be a stuck thermostat. I know you said you replaced it, but that does not mean it is working properly. I usually force mine open a few times with my thumbs before install to make sure it is not sticky or feels rough..

You still need to figure out where the coolant is going!!!

The upper radiator hose should get almost too hot to hold on to when the thermostat opens up.

Just to clarify, are you saying you replaced your thermal fan clutch and shroud with an after market electric fan and shroud combo?

Did your new radiator come with a new radiator cap?

The oil should look non milky and at the proper level,, Not overfilled with possible coolant/oil.

Hmmm... The thermostat is important in maintaining an even temp for the ECU to function properly imo. Get a good one.. (dealer item)

What gasket are you referring to running without??

I asked a few other questions above that could be answered but I will let the other guys jump in here now..;)

do you hear any waterfall noises behind the dash when you start up? or when you press on the gas? it should sound like water swishing around. if so, you probably have a leak, or a bhg.

check for that leak first. I had one for the longest time, and there was no coolant on the ground at all. it was just a little drip that burned off in the engine bay, i couldnt find it at all.

take your car to a shop and get them to do a pressure test, that will tell you if you have a leak, and they can find it for you.

Again, just to clarify, are you saying you replaced your thermal fan clutch and shroud with an after market electric fan/shroud combo?

Did your new radiator come with a new radiator cap?

Any sweet smell in defrost mode inside the car when it is warm or is your passenger side floormat at all wet?

I am back to replacing the thermostat and finding the leak. It does not take much of a coolant leak for the car to show signs of over heating..:(

Edit: Make sure you "burped" it also.
