Hi all

Please help me out.
I have a 1991 3000T .
On the highway over 130 kmh (90 mph) beside the water temperature a small red signal starts to come up with a loud beep-beep sound.
The temperature shows absolutely normal like always,no water running out everything seems ok checked everything ...
This warning comes up only at highway speed ,but the water temperature needle shows absolutely ok (and it works ,checked it)
We checked everything -thermostat,oil,water-everything is ok...????

How can I solve this problem please help me out guys....

Waiting for your replies

Thanks a lot in advance

George

Do you have a EWD for your country, model, and year? My car (US model) doesn't have the warning beeper.

http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TEWD/MK3/manual.aspx?S=Main&P=137

What isn't shown on that page is the common power. If your is like ours, then you need to look at the sensor that turns it on. If it is an on-off switch, it will likely be grounded when you over heat. But like I said, we don't have that here, you need the EWD to see how yours operates. If you find no faults, then you can think about the combination meter.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Japanese cars have a 'speed warning' that pops up over a certain kph?

Yes I think you are right , it is a Japanese made for Europe

But is it a speed warning? On the light it shows water temperature?????

I think the main problem is that my check engine light is not working at all-so i can't read the codes......

If anyone has an idea please let me know...

Thanks

some European Market cars have the same speed warning beeper fitted, Normally goes off over, 110kph ish(from memory) I ditched the one on my Jdm car. Just remove the gauge cluster you will see a small white box on the back near the speedo with 2 wires( again from memory) just remove these and the box job done! no more beeping.

Also check the bulb for the check engine light, it has probably blown, So try a new one,

If it is a Japanese market version a speed warning will beep when you go over 120 km/hr. When I rode in my in-law's Mark 2 in Japan, it beep at exactly 120 km/h, it has a digital dash so it was easy to tell. annoying the hell out of you. If all the gauges are OK I would not worry about it.

From what I deduce from the user manuals and electronic wiring diagrams for the various JDM electronics, such as, Apexi, Greddy, Blitz, they have provisions to eliminate the speed limiter. So, your car may also be speed limited?

Hi all

PROBLEM SOLVED

So the speed warning is a small black thing located on the back of the board, just beside the speedometer incoming cable....
You don't have to cut the 2 wires just have to remove this small black round thing(Made in Japan cars only) and no more beeping....

We fixed the check engine light so I can read codes now ----:naughty:

I bought the car in a very bad shape -somebody removed the W wire from the joint going into the computer -I am sure that by that time the check engine was coming on constantly annoying the hell out of him-but he did not remove the bulb noooooo-he removed the wire (IDIOT)

So now this works also and I am very happy

I will try to post a picture of this speed warning black round thing just in case a japanese supra pops up at you claiming the beep-beep sound(hehe)

:biglaugh:

Hi all

So as I promised here are the pictures of the speed warning sensor.
It is only in made in Japan supras, located behind the dash-if you remove it -no more beeping and flashing overheat signal...
Good to know if you happen to meet a Japanese Supra...

The buzzer came on above 130 KMH (80 MPH) and the warning light came up,but the ECU didn't do anything so we were able to go faster-just I did not enjoy the cruise very much cause the loud beeping and the flashing signal...

The ECU might control the speed also but it must have been taken care of the former owner...

interesting....do you just have a buzzer or does the ecu actually limit speed
