To answer your question.. no I dont have problems and never have had problems w/ my 1j overheating.

get your coolant system checked @ radiator shop... or where ever you see fit.. Dont tell them of a pre-existing problem.. just to eliminate the chance of them just trying to make coin on you.. let them check it and then discuss :).

If you dont want to spend $ to get it checked.. tell him to watch his coolant level... maybe he has a BHG.. not common in a 1J but not impossible. Other than that I dunno..

My suggestion is let the pro's handle it.

And did it truely over heat... or did you guys catch it before then... if you didn't then you might wanna get the whole motor checked.

well it just started smoking up and all but i dont think there was any damage to the engine at all but the temp gauges was up there tho... so thanx i was hoping it wouldnt be a problem...

also what i forgot to mention was do u daily drive ur mk3 around cuz i live far frm my work and this is the only car i got... actually got it for a grand frm some guy with a busted motor and i been lookin up on the 1jz engine and i wana drop it in my car..

. its jus the fact i see my friends do swaps and all of them are having heating problems.... and im worried bout driving my car too much cuz i knw its not a honda and all and i wana take certain precautions bfore i do the swap... because i aslo want to make it really reliable

just go 1jz no over heating issue here.

i use a KOYO and E-Fan perma cool set up

the best way to keep it cool is use a koyo and a sc300 fan shroud and clutch fan get rid of the crappy hydropump it robs power moreso from the engine they tend to break not having much parts for them anyways.

the 2jz-gte waterpump housing is about 100$ from toyota comes with pump and back housing and gaskets.
