I just bought a 87mk3 turbo - For some reason it keeps over boosting. I have read the code and it is definately over boost. The is completely stock with an open element filter. Ive checked all vacumn lines and intercooler pipes to the best of my ability. Guage is alittle slow seems to hit over boost about 5psi. I have no clue but as far as I have read the car shouldn't be over boosting untill 11.7psi. Just trying to get an idea of how to fix before I start adding parts.

What you have here is a Boost Leak. The code you are getting is basically the AFM seeing to much air. Without a boost leak you will be able to hit around 13psi before seeing this code.
Check for Boost Leaks...they can be hard to track down sometimes but I'm 100% sure this is your problem.

Thank you for the reply - I guess Ill have fashion up some kind of boost leak checker. Or go back over every thing and retighten all the clamps
It would over boost because the w/g would never open, but he is hitting f/c at 5psi which is under-boost. That is related to a boost leak as stated above.
