ok i saw a thread a while ago that you can just cut a hole into your firewall and run the ecu wires through there without extending any wires...if you go that rout, where do you put the ECU it self?? and i also heard that you need to extend some wire inside of the cabin...anyone know what wires need to be extended??

Oh and just to make sure what i know already is right, The 1jz ecu is used for the swap, and the engine side is left alone(if you go with the hole in the firewall)..The only part that needs to be wired is the cabin side of the harness(ign, lights, ect ect)

thanks

i swear this was covered in just the last week Lol. i wouldnt go with extending the wires unless you do it with the right wires from plug to plug if you do choose to extend, ive heard a lot of negatives about extending it~ do some searching theres lots and lots of info

the firewall is a great alternative :) a lot of people are afraid to cut into the firewall but it really isnt a big deal

Isn't there some type of drill bit that is supposed to make cutting the firewall easy?

Use a hole saw bit. I used a 2.5" one.

Also, make sure to run the harness through before putting the engine all the way down, it's alot harder to pull the harness through with the engine in.

The ECU is in the stock location, but faces the opposite direction. As few as 18 or up to 30-someodd wires still need to be extended depending on options like ABS etc.
