Hey guys, a few days ago Bryanfromtexas here on sm gave me a whole bunch of shadow grey interior panels/parts in great shape... Only problem is I am still missing the hatch pannels and globe box...... Despite it I will still put it on and with time try and find the rare pieces needed for the interior "conversion" lol... So I started taking off the loose dirty grey panels berely hanging in there (yet another previous owner mess up) and wanted to see if yall have tried anything to make your ride more quiet other then the costly Dynomat. Also, I dont want it to be too quiet because I still want it to feel/sound like I am driving an exotic sports car.... Back then it was kind of emberassing giving people rides because my car felt soo loose, everything made noise and squeeqs and so on... Any advice would be greatly appriciated, thanks...

Give liquid deadeners a try.

Second Skin makes a good product. I wouldn't worry about your vehicle being too quiet, but if you're really concerned; just sound deaden one side of the panel instead of both. I'd use a minimum of 3 coats tho.

Ah, see that looks great..... I was thinking of some kind of deadner that I could maybe spray inside the panels but not on car..... I was not really thinking of the floor but now after going thru your thread its defently something I want to do.... Were would you suggest I buy it, sounds to me like you used the good good stuff... I am on a budget, coming off a rebuild.. Within this few weeks a new harness goes in and intake side soo Im in constant $$$ spendin.... Thanks alot for the input thou, got me exited lol....

All depends on your budget and just how much of your car you are trying to deaden. I bought a little too much myself (8 gallons) and am left with around 2.5 gallons unused. And that's with deadening the engine bay, firewall, undercarriage, gas tank, floor pans, inner and outer wheel wells, hatch area and doors. I don't mind having some deadener left over since I can just use it as necessary if I start hearing buzzing from somewhere such as an interior panel or the license plate.
This stuff goes a long way.

Back in the day I bought a monsterous roll of Certainteed roll roofing for like $50 for 200sqft. It's asphalt based so it's the same thing as your basic cheepo dynamat. However, it added plenty of weight and had a nasty stink to it on hot days. Now I'm partial to liquid deadeners. Weigh much less and can be either brushed or sprayed on. And not needing a heat gun is a plus :icon_bigg

Ah, yeah I dont want to do that much deadning to it lol.... I just feel kind of bad putting the panels back in with nothing done there that could be done now that its out.... Do you know of any spray maybe that I could use on the inside of the panels?

elemental designs edead worked well for me...2-3 layers covering my entire car, and it is butyl rubber (not asphalt) so when it gets hot, my car doesn't smell like a freshly laid road.

Not sure which panels you are referring to, but all interior panels are extrememly easy to remove; except for maybe the dash, which is more time consuming then anything. It shouldn't be a problem to remove panels at a later time if need be.

As far as coating used, this what I've been having luck with http://www.secondskinaudio.com/sound-deadener/spectrum.php

Their Spectrum deadener is a visceolastic water based solution with Cryogenically manipulated polymers and high temperature wax. They keep making it better every few years. Hell, the stuff I'm using is at least 5 years old and it still sets just fine. The new stuff is infinitely better however.

I called them over the phone and bought so much that they gave me a pretty big discount, free shipping and even threw some accessories in. Somebody always answers the phone and they are very helpful. A couple of gallons should get you by just fine.
