I'd suggest spend the extra $10 or so and get the Orbital deep cycle. I think I paid around $175. Once Optimas patent ended Orbital made a better version of it. Optimas have had leak problems among other problems in the past. Was told that info by a battery shop who actauly sold both so I don't think he was being bias. Later-T

Of course he was, he got a commision for selling you the battery that was $10 more :)
j/k

I've NEVER had a problem with an optima, I've sold several at work, never had one come back. I've run the SAME one in three different cars, and sold it with the last car. I just bought a new one for my supra.

I always run red tops, never had a need for a yellow. The red top recharges quickly, has plenty of reserve capacity, and plenty of cranking amps.

There is something to be said about popping your hood and seeing that yellow battery. It's a statement of quality that everyone recognizes.

i have a red top in my car, its awesome in the summer, however it runs low on power in the cold before starting up the car...it went dead on me one time last year, and there is nothing draining the battery over night.

Optima and Quality???

not in this court. I went through to many of those craptacular batteries in to short a time. Stick with Oddessy if the pockets go that deep. Other wise the diehards and all that work extremly well.

Not sure what happened to the last posters batteries, but Mine have run flawlessly for almost five years. Neither of my vehicles has had any electrical problesm something that kills any type or brand of battery. One thing I dont miss is those stinking battery acid vapors causing corrosion in my battery area and my cable ends. With the lame arse lead acid batteries I was having to replace them every two to three years, even die hards which Do Not have the quality they once did years ago. I run red top Optimas in both my 89 N/A, and 94 Dodge B150 Van. I'm posting a link to Optima to show you that a yellow top is the way to go Only if you have higher demands on your battery like a Big stereo Amp which I dont run.

i have the 34r red top in my car. i guess i like it ok haha. it has a lot of power and lasts a decent amount of time. altho it is pretty well gone now but it has sat for a year now being started twice and ran for 52 miles. my trickle charger died or it prob would have started right up.

as far as quality, i know of one guy that has had problems, and figgie makes 2. thats pretty good quality imo.

My point proven, you can read a couple threads of people having poroblems with their Optimas, By a 'Blue" top Orbital "It's sexy" and no complaints here.
