I was just wondering what everyones main reason was to go to supra meets, meet new people, see the cars, show off?
I want to go to chi2k9 but I feel like a idiot not bringing a friend,( have no supra friends yet) every meet I ever went to it seemed like there where clicks of friends and every one else was an outcast. Mind you I used to go to honda meets. I'm hopping supra meets aren't like this. Maybe some one can inform me what there like and how the people are? I just don't want to drive all the way to the meet (5hrs) to stand around.

I'm just saying it takes some good event planing to involve everyone. Like the dinners for insistences, most are at a place where you get a table then some people are not at the same table and so forth. It'd be better to go to a place you can get a room where every one can sit.

You should come. No one really has an expectations of people really so it's not like your going to disappoint anyone. It's fun to just see other peoples cars and chat. I've never really had anything nice to bring beyond a stock Supra with some flaws but I still enjoy going. Plus, you'll get to be in the cool CHI2K9 picture like this:

You should go, most of the people I know from the Chicago area are extremely nice and welcoming. Naturally you'll see groups of people talking, but all you have to do is walk up and introduce yourself. Meet people, have a good time!

Wow, I've never had the clique thing happen at a meet before...

Everyone usually knows everyone else, and if there's a n00b, we always make an effort to introduce ourselves and get them involved.

Saying that, it helps that we have semi-regular meets and social events...

I've been to several meets to do exactly as 7M-KDL posted. I've never taken my Supra to one YET, but I have thoroughly enjoyed every meet I have been to. I traveled 15 hours each way to be in that photo, and I only knew Suprahero and Noah 89T before making the trip. To this day, I can still look at that picture and name everybody in it without the names being posted with it. It also brings a tear to my eye looking at Nelson, who I knew for 3 days. He was that good of a man.

I never had any other supra friends when I started going to meets, and out of state meets, now i regularly talk to a good chunk of the people I met.

Chi2k9 is going to happen, it's just that the people organizing it are busy getting ready for HIN this Saturday. They'll release all of the information afterwards, but I do think that that is cutting it a little bit too close...

You choose your own level of involvment. Get out and say hi etc...people won't go out of their way to get to know you...try to find local supra people (their is always locals!)...we have local forums here also.
