One quick question about head install

On page E55 of the tsrm, it notes to locations at the front of the head for you to put seal packing. It appears to me that those locations are where the gaskets are between the front timing cover and block correct? i want to make sure it even matters regarding the seal packing if i used the gaskets, as they seem to rise all the way to the deck, leaving little if any room for seal packing material to fit.

That's the place allright, and you should use it as well as the gaskets.

Thanks grim, i figured but wanted to be absolutely sure, as a bhg is not on my wanted list. I did not use sealant where not told to by the tsrm. I only used it on my oil pan so far, I want to prove that gaskets work fine. Either I'll be right, or my engine will leak like Niagara falls.

Chances are you will be fine. I've built engines both ways, and rarely do I have a problem either way.

Its all in the preparation Eric. Do it right and take your time, and you should have no problems at all.
