ok, just replaced the fuel pulsation dampener and its starting now off of a jump. it idles at 500rpms and is struggling to stay running. i do have a turbo xs rfl bov that is not recirculated so i think that may be part of it but it ran fine before that.

the turbo seems to spool for the most part but my guage doesnt read any boost when i give it throttle. as soon as i let off of the throttle [bov does not chirp] the car immidiatly wants to die. i have yet to take it for a drive after getting it to run again due to maybe gettin stuck somewhere so im sorry for not being able to describe driving details.

when ever it revs down after i rev it, it seems like white smoke is coming from the exhaust. [burning oil?] and im hoping to god i didnt see a blue smoke ring at the end of the rev and then it likes to die. i dont see any check engine lights or anything in the dash. just a really low idle at around 500-700 with no boost.

boost leak? blown turbo? HG? FPR? what do u guys think?

if you dont recirculate the bov, it will run rich between shifts and want to die.

White smoke is coolent, could be signs of a blown headgasket...does the car overheat?

also your problem is more than likely a boost leak. Search for boost leak tester.

I agree with the above post. The loud turbo sound but no boost reading on the gauge sounds like a boost leak. White smoke is coolant, check your overflow bottle and oil. Also, your BOV will cause the car to die after shifts if it isn't recirculated.

ok. i know about the bov thing. thanks for reassuring my idea on that.

the guy that sold me this car on this site said it was a jdm 7m-gte [which it is] and that it had an hks hg on it. i sware to god it better be true. i aint ready to change a HG.. i drove to f*cking arkansas from iowa for this car.

i think its more then likely a boost leak. can boost leaks just "happen" from a hard shift from 1st-2nd? would it instantly cause it to run shitty as im driving? i also tried to pop start it when i was driving when it happened and it would go into gear and start up but then it would die, even with the clutch in. even in neutral. could this still be a boost leak?

thanks for the help guys!

ok, so the car starts now 9/10 times and its idling pretty constantly at 700 rpms. i do now see some sort of white smoke slowly coming out by the exhaust manifold side of the motor. it is close to the front of the engine kinda by the power steering resevoir. i think this is an exhaust leak. its white smoke and it smells. im not sure if it smells like oil or like an ehxuast leak. there is no sound accompanied with it either. i still have no boost.

when i push the throttle, the vacuum side of my boost guage goes close to zero but never hits boost. i think i have a leak somewhere or a blown turbo. anyone have any insight? the car does not have any color of smoke coming out of the muffler either. i dont have any more fuel problems at the moment. i fixed those. i think its just a boost leak or turbo problem at the moment. o2 sensor?

any help would be great!

boost leaks can happen as fast as shifting from first to second....check your ic pipes especially the one off the turbo. You probobly blew it off or it cracked it due to its old age
