I've been looking into the older HKS EVC's to match the appearance of the VPC I've been running. I've heard great things about the EVC 1's ease of use as well as it's rock steady performance. It has just 4 buttons on the front. From left to right they are Power, Low, Medium, and Hi. The EVC 2 has 4 buttons and a knob. They are labeled Power, Low, High, Manual and volume.

My question is, is the EVC 2 just as good if not better than the EVC 1? Does the volume knob allow you to adjust the manual boost setting on the fly? Both look just like the VPC so I'd be happy with either. I just want to know which one to get.

Btw, the EVC II's are fairly common on egay, however, I have yet to come across the original EVC I.

I have an EVC II and the manual button lets you use the volume to change the boost on the fly. It's nice when the weather cools down and you're hitting FC in high mode but don't want to switch to low mode =) I have no complaints about its performance, but haven't used an EVC I to compare. I'd imagine the solenoid has some sort of improvement =\

I have an EVC 1 and it's the same basically and it matches my VPC. Set it and forget it kind of thing. Whatever one you find for the cheapest buy.
