Who feels like me? I live in Fargo Nd, As some of you know I am a true Supra enthusiest. Had a mk2 in collage and I have spent the last 2 years taking a wrecked, hailed out, non running targa and making it into something worthy of the name Supra. Anyway right after I found my 89 mk3 a guy I used to work with (my old boss) thought it was kind of a cool car. Well money is no object to this guy so he finds a 91 targa turbo 65000 mile perfect original every option car. Pays like 8K has it brought up from Florida. So I am thinking must be nice!!! But I think the car is great anyway I mean its a perfect car. Anyway I have since changed jobs and finished my car for now. I would stop into my old job when he would have the 91 there and we would bs about supras. Neither him nor I drive our cars in the winter. Nd is horrible tons of salt lots of ice and snow and below zero most of the winter. So today I am driving home its -8 degrees, and at the stoplight is my old bosses perfect 91 red targa turbo, dirty as hell, with some 16 year old smoking punk ass driving it. So I call my old boss and he told me he got bored with the car and sold it to some kid who's dad had money. I know this kid is going to destroy this car. It just disturbs me. I have no one else to tell this to, my wife thinks I am stupid for caring and all my friends and co workers cant understand my obsession with the Supra. Am I stupid to be bothered by this?

Hell no.Now i'm bothered with it.Only a true enthusiast would appreciate the Supra, and it will be only a matter of time before that kid has it wrapped around a pole.Just keep in mind that your car was saved from the junkyard, and brought back to life by a worthy owner like yourself. I'm sure the other car will be souped up in about a week thanks to daddy's bank account. On your car, however,i'm sure you have done all the work to improve it's handling, acceleration, and interior giving you and your car a sense of value and worth.
If your old boss really liked the car,he would have kept it!
Let's all have a moment of silence for another Supra lost...

that kid better at least take the pole out with it, and himself while he's at it. Poor poor car.

Ehh, that's life. An affinitation for material objects is common for us humans. He get attached to things we cherish, to see those same things not held to the same standards as our own, makes us uncomfortable. The effect is greater in some than others. Shrug it off man, nothing to lose sleep over, focus on what you have.

well as much as i like these cars, they are not very pricey at all, i bought my supra when i was 16, i bought it with the intentions of learning how to drive and getting another car ( i wanted something faster at the time), i did get another car, a toyota prius - i realized supra and fast can easily be synonymous-

ive become attached to the supra, i look forward to driving it every weekend that i am not in school, maybe that kid will grow to love it too, give it time,

I have a a mint 91 turbo targa too

Im the same mutha fuckin way! I bought a supra, was my first supra. 1986.5 N/A Two Tone. I dropped $1,000 sound system and $500 suspension, $800 clutch in it and i sell it because i for some reason wanted a turbo supra.

Come to find out the car was being smoked in, was never washed and the kid ran it low on oil for the majority of the time he had it, on top of that he blew the head gasket like nothing ive ever seen. Ive told people ive gotten in a supra convo with about this stuff that i would buy it back in a heart beat if he offered.. but nope here it sits getting an "NA-T conversion" and on blocks from the RK..

Look at it this way. If he wrecks it, our cars will be that much more valuable for being rarer. :)

If he doesn't, perhaps he'll end up here, being a contributing member.

We can't lose!
My thoughts exactly, the less of them out there... the better in my book. I see some of these people driving around and abusing the car. I can't wait till they total it.

Damn that sucks. It's one thing to have a beater and to sell it to some dumbass, but to sell a mint or near mint car to a person who'll surely destroy it just tears me up.

There's this mkIII I see all the time, a late model 88 (has the newer bumper and tails), turbo targa automatic. He once had the car for sale, and he was asking $1,200 for it. I wanted it but never had the money, now the car just sits there. Never gets driven, EVER, and I know it runs good (or it did when I last checked on it). It pisses me off to no end to drive by that car every week without it being enjoyed. I guess I should be glad, however, that it wasn't sold to some moron and being driven into a tree.

There's a kid around me who bought an 89 turbo targa auto for a "winter beater". I mean, granted the car had 200,000mi+ on it, and rotting fenders, but still.
His reasoning? He wanted to "see the look on my face when he told me it was a winter beater. because that's all the car is good for."

The funny part: He doesn't want to drive his 94 Civic DX because it's "too nice". "Too rice" maybe..

Muffler, 18's and $30 ebay coilover sleeves. Yeah, that thing's mint.

I'd drive a rusty MK3 in the winter, lol, as long as it was a good price. It'd still be a nice car to drive, better than my 85 Celica, that's for sure ;).

can't beat the gas mileage of the Celica though. My GTS got 36mpg :icon_bigg

Such hatred, owning a supra does not mean you are rich, and if as a parent you made a decent amount of money, wouldnt you want your kid to have the best that you can give them?

Maybe it is just me but my daily driver is worth far more than my supra, i chose the supr becuase i like it, face the facts people, people will buy these cars( good or bad condition) and mistreat them, they do it with every car, thats life
