During my top end tear down I just noticed something sort of odd. I know that the intake gets some gunk in it from recircs/valve cover breathers/etc., but I noticed something sort of interesting. In my intake manifold (past the throttle body) the gunk/oily residue is MUCH more prominent in the runners for cylinder 1 - 3, and not so much in the runners for cylinders 4 - 6. Is this normal? If you need picutres I can post them up probably late tonight.

It's normal. Just when you remove something from your 20 year old car make sure to use carb cleaner to get all the gunk out.

I'm gonna clean it all up obviously but I just found it curious that the 1/2/3 runners where SIGNIFICANTLY more gunked than the 4/5/6 runners.

You might want to test your cold start injector to make sure that it's spaying evenly in both direction. It helps to clean some of the gunk off.

I'll get my cold start injector cleaned up then along with all the others. Any recommendations on a good injector cleaner I can soak them in without damaging the plastics?

When I replaced my injector seals I noticed how bad my intake was. I cleaned up the throttle body and the opening to the intake. But thats all I could get to.

I need to take it off and clean it all up, but at the moment that was not the goal and I just wanted to get it running. Everytime I work on my car, I usually get distracted and spend half the time just cleaning things.

So for now I've just used some Seafoam and hopefully that will help. Not sure how much it will.

Brake parts cleaner ftw. That sounds normal .. wouldnt be bhg or anything like that since bhg wouldnt really spray stuff up into the intake. Just pcv/egr crap
